Elderly couple found dead in murder-suicide

An 82-year-old couple who owned an apartment building in Tokyo’s Bunkyo Ward have been found dead in what police say was a murder-suicide.

The couple, who owned the 10-story building, were found dead by a security company employee at around 5:40 p.m. on Sunday, Sankei Shimbun reported.

Police said the couple lived in a maisonette apartment occupying the 9th and 10th floors of their building. The woman was found on the 9th floor, lying on her bed, after having been strangled with a tie that was still around her neck. Her husband was found collapsed in the kitchen on the 10th floor after having stabbed himself. Beside him was a note in which he said he had killed his wife and that he was going to kill himself, police said.

Their daughter, who hadn’t been able to contact them for awhile, called the security firm. The security firm employee used a master key to access the locked apartment and found the bodies.

I imagine the old couple surely have had their own reasons for committing the forced double suicide this time. Rest in peace.

I have no idea what a bad story that ever should be if you own a 10-story-building in Tokyo.

I feel that behind all this is a very sad story which I doubt we will ever know about. Probably a good thing too since people's private lives shouldn't be so public.
