Elderly woman burned to death in Fukuoka

Police said Wednesday that the body of a 78-year-old woman was found next to a burned-out car near her home in Fukuchi, Fukuoka Prefecture, in what they are treating as a murder case.

According to police, the body was found at 5 a.m. on Tuesday. The victim is believed to be a local florist, Fuji TV reported, but police said identification of the charred remains will be difficult.

Police say that signs of a struggle were evident in the victim's home. Bloodstains were found in the home and along the 60-meter stretch of road leading to the scene of the fire.

Police believe the victim was attacked in her home and then carried to her car, which was then set alight by her assailant.

OMG. How this doesn't end up as the top story of the day is beyond me. What a horrible way to die. Poor lady.

Investigate family and neighbours first.

It is got to be someone really close to the victim perpetrate such violent crime. Old grudge most likely. I can't imagine being the result of a robbery or a heat of the moment kind of crime.
