Enraged 28-year-old woman stabs boyfriend after split talks

A 28-year-old woman was arrested Sunday for stabbing her boyfriend and leaving him unconscious after the two had a discussion over splitting up, police said.

At around 10:10 p.m. on Sunday, Maiko Sadakiyo called police to report that she had stabbed her boyfriend’s thigh with a knife at the couple’s apartment in Shimemachi, Fukuoka Prefecture, where the two were drinking and discussing their potential split.

The man, 32, was taken to a hospital for treatment, but still remains unconscious, Sankei Shimbun reports.

Sadakiyo told police that she stabbed her boyfriend because he had “stopped talking” while the two were arguing, which enraged her.

According to investigators, the woman had contacted police last December to report that she was being abused by her boyfriend and that she was intending to stay at a shelter. Police are currently investigating the circumstances of the crime.

I think I dated her older sister. It must have been a heck of a stab if he is unconscious, is that why he stopped talking?

"It must have been a heck of a stab if he is unconscious"

This happens a lot. There are some big veins in the leg and if the man has been drinking heavily, the sudden stab to the thigh induces shock and he is not able to react and subsequently bleeds to death.

It is a well documented method for women to kill their partners...

Random: Probably hit that big thigh arterie and he bled out on the tatami mat. She cleaned it up before calling police.

What a jerk!

She's been abused in the past so that could account for the emotional explosion, but I'll say again what I've said elsewhere, people today just seem to explode into extreme violence at the slightest thing.

@Thunderbird2 It's all a matter of perspective I guess. There is an argument that in many ways the world is more peaceful. And places like the U.S. and Japan are definitely more peaceful (the argument goes).

Japan seems to have a disproportionate share of women (and men) like this. It's scary. Bad parenting and lack of treatment exacerbate this.

We don't really know her side of the story. I am not "victim blaming"... but girls don't usually go all knifey without a reason.

He is lucky she did not cut off his weenie!

"Seems to" or "does"? If you are going by the number of articles you read in the news paper, that's about as scientific as religious faith.

Neither do guys. The question is whether the reason is reasonable or not.

It's a catchy headline and a quick description of events. (1). I personally would leave the house if the woman grabbed a knife. (2).Would instantly say I love you babe upon her grabbing a knife. (3) Would make sure there were no knives in the house before having such a discussion. (4) Not drink while having such a discussion. When he gains consciousness maybe he should be interrogated for assisted suicide.

I guess I was thinking table knife, but a kitchen knife would really easily do some damage with major arteries running through the thigh.

Either that or she is just a maniac that made up those stories

Have to agree with strangerland here. These kneejerk Japan-bashing comments after each crime story in a newspaper are really tiring. What do people explect the news to be about?

Pro tip: if there is the slightest hint your partner has a quick temper, break up via text message and change your locks.

...because they won't remember where you live, or the station nearest your apt, or where you work...

randomnator: "It must have been a heck of a stab if he is unconscious, is that why he stopped talking?"

Arteries, my friend... arteries.

Strangerland: "Neither do guys. The question is whether the reason is reasonable or not."

Pres tel what reason is 'reasonable' to you to stab someone, let alone possibly kill them?

""Seems to" or "does"? If you are going by the number of articles you read in the news paper, that's about as scientific as religious faith."

That's only the number you DO read -- which means there are likely far more. Your comment makes no sense in defending the idea that there is no disproportion.

Self defense.

Any other questions?

Your comment makes no sense in regards to what I was talking about. The comment was that Japan has a disproportionate number of men and women. That means that there are more per-capita than in other countries. You comment is in reference to an absolute number (which we don't even know about, and you are speculating about), without any reference to other countries. So your comment makes no sense in response to mine.

Looks like he had a reason (and an extra big one now) for wanting to leave psychobabe. Just my feeling.

Well, it's not scientific, that's why I wrote "seems". This is purely based on my own experience and impression. I believe in relation to other crimes, Japan has a disproportionate number of stalking and related crimes. I wish there were statistics on that which were comparable across countries, but their aren't any.
