Enraged customer parks car at McDonald's drive-thru window for two hours

A man has been arrested in Konan, Aichi Prefecture, for obstructing business at a McDonalds drive-thru restaurant last Wednesday night, police said Friday. The man, who has been identified as Daigo Yumioka, 38, reportedly lost his temper at one of the restaurant employees and stopped his car at the order collection window for almost two hours between 9:20 p.m. and 11 p.m.

The Sports Nippon paper quoted witnesses as saying that the employee asked the man to hold on for a moment as the restaurant was busy, before switching off the microphone. Yumioka appeared to get angry, witnesses said. He then parked his car at the order collection window and began to drink alcohol. When police arrived and asked him to move his car, he was quoted by officers as saying he was too drunk to drive. Daigo was arrested for obstruction of business.

Can anyone complaining about service in a company be arrested for obstructing a business? It seems as if this guy went over the top, but I feel people could be arrested when making reasonable complaints. Sometimes, it may be necessary to be a little obstructive to counteract some businesses obstruction of complaints and some action taken instead of the usual smile. gomenasai, shoga nai and inaction.

I suppose after drinking alcohol, he could not drive his car off the premises.

I also wonder if the yakusa or sarakin have ever been arrested for obstructing a business. Is it only the weak who are arrested?

-4 ( +3 / -8 )

In the USA, he would have lasted 2 minutes, lol!

It's hard to arrest your boss

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Weasel, you have no idea buddy! MCDs are way too nasty, The Habit burgers are much better!

0 ( +1 / -1 )

ONLY obstruction of business? He was DRUNK in a CAR! Does that not get you arrested for drunk driving (you and keys in car is enough in most of the world!)? Also, I'm wondering about the timeline here. Did the employees wait almost 2 hours before calling the cops or did they call right away and it took 2 hours for the cops to get there? In either case I agree with Juan, in the states the driver of the car behind him would have gotten pissed and yanked the a$$hole out of his car, beat the crap out of him, and moved his car WAY out of the way!

Usually these guys are identified as a company employee, school teacher, senior police office etc. Why no mention this time?

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Not a good idea keeping alcohol in your vehicle. The employee should have called police immediately, not waiting almost two hours to call. The man is unemployed according to Yahoo Japan, not that I have anything against them.

-2 ( +1 / -2 )

Ha Ha Ha ...so lame, who is so angry to do this? Postal!

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Smart fellow not to get nabbed for drunk driving.

3 ( +3 / -1 )

Another great story. At least someone is fighting back out there.

-1 ( +2 / -2 )

What an ass. But give him credit for not drivng away drunk, tho he might have already started drinking before he drove up to the drive-thru, in fact this is probably the case.

0 ( +1 / -0 )

How anyone could eat that garbage food anyway is beyond me.

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

The REAL reason for his protest was that he couldn't purchase anything that tasted like real food!

Had to be some special quick response rapid police riot squad could get to the scene in two hours.

Otherwise these employees are truly irritating and nerve nerve-racking with their "oochochoomachkudasaineeee" shrieking. Like talking robots, they don't know where they are, they are repeating the same mantras all day until it brainwashes them senseless.

When I do shopping anywhere and address the shop assistant and the answer is "oochochoomachkudasaineeee" or answering my question I hear the "soooodesuneeee" I immediately give it up, turn away, find another shop assistant or I go to another shop. I can save lots of time and my nerves.

Um, loony tunes! Get this loon a bed in a sanitarium before he hurts someone.

assumptions assumptions

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Another assumption.

Maybe he wanted some McNuggets and was told that the time they were sold is past and wanted to wait for the morning to be the 1st inline.

-2 ( +1 / -2 )

The Slow Food movement has been set back decades.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Feel sorry for the guy who was waiting behind him.

"What Took you so long!!!!'

"The guy in front of me wouldn't move for two hours, I swear!"

"You're lying! You with with HER! Get Out!"

6 ( +6 / -2 )

Hahahaha, hillarious Gaijinfo!!

1 ( +2 / -1 )

gaijintraveler: complaining is one thing, but this guy LITERALLY obstructed business.

Anyway, clearly this guy's a winner... he can't wait a few more minutes at a trashy fast-food place because it's busy, so he gets drunk in his car, blocks other customers, and ultimately gets arrested. Is he going to get angry that he has to wait in jail now? Idiot.

3 ( +2 / -0 )

2 all beef patties special sauce, pickles, onions cheese on a sesame bun. Maybe he forgot the gingle? My bod is burnt

1 ( +1 / -1 )

Not a good idea:

Drink and park ay Mc'y D's

Cops ain't lovin' it...

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Told police he was too drunk to move his car, precious.

2 ( +1 / -0 )

This is what happens when you eat too much BIGMacs.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

LOL I like the part where he was drinking and THEN the cops told him to move his car. LOL classic case of JP stupidity.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Two questions:

Why did it take the cops 2 hours to get there.

Why didn't another customer who wanted to use the drive through drag his outta his car and move it for him?

I woulda.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Sorry, "drag his a$$". The system deleted my first version of the word.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

what a winner.... i wonder if he got arrested for being in a car behind the wheel, keys , and drinking... the drive through must be classed as something different than a carkpark? wouldnt it?

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Someone should have brought in the clampers and a tow truck

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Two hours??? Wow that's kind of funny. I agree he should have been arrested for driving while intoxicated. Only in Japan.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

I guess he was mad because they ran out of Happy Meals.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Is it possible it took the flops two hours to get there?

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Did he watch Falling Down and forget to bring his bag of guns?

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Why did it take the cops 2 hours to get there.

Nothing says it took the cops 2 hours to get there. The events transpired according to the times in 1hr 40minutes There could be a variety of factors. First the McDonalds staff/manager might of tried to deal with the situation before involving the police (more paperwork to file) , finally they couldn't convince the guy so the police were called in (the time-line is not known here). The police arrive and first try to talk the guy out of the situation (unlike police in other countries who would probably go strait in with guns blazing or tear gas). But again the time line is not know here, but it's conceivable that this event could happen in a span of 1hr 40minutes. Not everything is like TV shows where things are resolved in a few minutes and cut to commercial.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Must be the beef from South America that did it!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

A bloke completely p-ssed behind the wheel of a car? Why not arrest him for drunk driving?

1 ( +1 / -0 )

@warnerbro Dude was obviously smarter than you. Nowhere does it say he was p_ssed behind the wheel... If you had done a little constructive reading into the artice, you would have guessed he parked his car at the window. Then got out and hit a conbini for some alcohol. When the police arrived, he was smartly standing outside his car, beer in hand, saying he couldn't possibly drive now.

That's why he only got arrested for obstructing business, which McD will happily settle out of court by offering him a free Value Set on his next visit!

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

LOL. I love to read a funny story like this. Thank god, this is a lot better story than IHOP rampage shoot out that killed several people in Nevada a week ago. His sentence should be working for McDonald and taking million orders from drive through rude demanding customers. I wonder how long he would last for the job

1 ( +1 / -0 )

This would have been a job for Tow-Mater while being in Japan.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Actually, I feel sorry for this guy, he must be a real hard core looser! First goes to Mc Donalds, is surprised by the crappy service, by Japanese standards, some Mc Donalds are horrible, smokers everywhere, some lame retard, no joke, they must hire retards etc..by Japanese law, does not even say Irraishaimase, and in my case asked me about 5 TIMES if I was going to EAT IN or TAKE OUT?? Finally I yelled at this retard in NIHONGO that he had already asked me 5 times where I was going to eat, the manager came running pushed the idiot retard out of the way, bowed to me and asked for forgiveness and patience etc..but this crappy Mc Donalds here in KODAIRA Tokyo really sucks! Smokers everywhere! They leave the bathroom door open so you can have your french fries and peek into the bathroom at the same time?? and oh yes, plenty of FLIES! Hitotsubashi gakuen station, right in front their is this nasty, nasty Mc Donalds, so I hope the nut case down in Aichi prefecture never gets at Mc Attack?? up here in Kodaira TOKYO!

Elbuda, go to McDonald.com and then go to International Customer service feedback. I am sure McDonald wants to hear about this. McDonald US is pretty clean and well served as always.

2 all beef patties special sauce, pickles, onions cheese on a sesame bun. Maybe he forgot the gingle?

Maybe you forgot the lettuce and the order to make it.....

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Was it really just being told to wait that set him off? Surely there is more to the story?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I like this guy, I want to buy him a beer!

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

I find the forum posts of this story more interesting and funny than the story itself, thank yoy everybody!

kansaifun: "That's why he only got arrested for obstructing business,"

Doesn't matter if he was dead drunk or not, the laws for drinking and driving in this nation are very strict (zero alcohol!), but not enforced, hence the comments.

JapanGal: It's: "Two all beef patties special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions, on a sesame seed bun". I once won a contest in my province because I could spout it out faster than anyone else. Got a few big macs for free as a result (and some toxic orange drink along with a shamrock shake). Not really that much of a win, or talent, really.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

LMFAO!!! What an idiot. Shouldn't there be a law where the police can arrest someone under the charge of "Stupidity"? I think that would be a great law to make. Or there could be a charge of "Acting Like A Spoiled Brat Because I Didn't Get My Way", which could be punished by picking up garbage for a year or cleaning in front of the urinals where the ojisans pee on all the time at the train stations! What an idiot.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

I love this! I am totally on this guy's side. Besides, I don't see any difference when some old fart buys a small cup of coffee and takes up a whole table for four for 2 hours while he naps during the most busiest time of day, AND the employees do NOTHING about it.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Unemployed middle-aged Japanese guy in "doing something crazy" shocker. Only surprising thing is that this wasn't in Saitama.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

I would just like to ask this guy one question, "you mad bro?"

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Why did he get so angry....I am quite sure they was making new fresh hot french fries for him.....don't you hate when they are served cold

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The manager should have turned off all the lights and pretended to close down the place.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Comedy Central!

Oh by the way, it's: Two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, on a sesame seed bun! (sung to the old MacDonald's commercial melody).

What's with all the rage incidents at fast food places. I can't decide if it's something in the food, or is it just related to the average intelligence of those who frequent such establishments.

Hell maybe a little of both.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

his life is in burger

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I know someone who gets revenge on MacDonads (sick) by buying a cup of coffee to take away, then getting a free refill for the next week whenever he's feeling a bit grumpy & sees a nice pair of Golden Arches, till the cup disintegrates. A small victory; keeps him going. Sad what???

0 ( +1 / -1 )

If he was in the US doing that, he'd get a Big Smack free!
