Police on Tuesday arrested an former Fuji Xerox employee for the embezzlement of 440 million yen. The suspect was fired in April of this year and the company subsequently reported the case to police.
Katsutoshi Masago, 41, was arrested for allegedly embezzling 440 million yen by selling 2,100 PCs which he had ordered under the company name in June, 2007. Police believe he had previously sold more PCs in the same way and has embezzled a total of 1.18 billion yen since February of 2002.
Police said Masago spent the money on his gambling debts. Masago admits the allegations, according to police.

That is a lot of money. I guess the company has no internal control to oversea ordering of equipment, approving bill payments, etc.

Wow props to this guy for having the guts to siphon off that much money. This guy was either crazy, stupid or owed money to the wrong people. How do you get that far in gambling anyway? Most embezzlers take a lot longer to get caught because they take in smaller increments. Anyway, the lesson is they all get caught in the end.
