A former "juku" cram school teacher has been arrested on suspicion of allegedly enlisting a former student to secretly photograph a girls’ shower changing room during a school trip three years ago.
The youth division of the Aichi Prefecture police says Kazuhira Hirata, 35, of Chishima in Osaka’s Taisho Ward, had been dating the student at the time and allegedly intended to sell DVD versions of the photos. Also arrested was self-described adult video manufacturer and marketer Yoshinori Hirai, 33, of Izumidai in Kita Ward, Kobe. The two men are suspected of violating laws banning child prostitution and child pornography.
Police say that in mid-November of 2005, Hirata asked the girl, then a 16-year-old second-year student at a private high senior high school in Nagoya, to use a concealed video camera to photograph nude classmates in the shower changing room during a school trip to Kyushu. Hirata then allegedly transferred the images to DVD.
The girl was a student of Hirata’s when she was in junior high school. “I thought I could make money easily without working,” Hirata allegedly told police. The girl reportedly said, “I was helping my boyfriend earn a living.” Police are considering filing charges against her too.

You've gotta love the cultural aspects of, "helping my boyfriend make money." Way to go girl! Unfortunately, beyond the pure immorality of this offense the size of the market for this kind of video in Japan could have made this sicko a millionaire overnight! Nabbing this loser is only a token gesture. The real approach would be to attempt to educate the population (male and female) that, taking photos of naked children bad! Would that be a simple enough way for these morons to understand?

It's a gross invasion of privacy for the victims, a betrayal of the trust that is given to teachers as a matter of course, and just plain disturbing, both in that this idiot couldn't think of any other way to "earn money without working" than to exploit children in his care AND that he actually got another student to go along with it.
This is a crime deserving of some prison time and heavy fines.

I know that I am mathematically challenged but, this is 2008 and the dude is 35. So in 2005 he was 32 and his girlfriend at the time was 16?? Is 16 the age of consent in Nagoya? Too many uncle pervys here.

Juku teacher are notorious for kiddy porn. I think all the juku teachers need firm background checks. And parents who let their kids into the schools should check up on the teachers. PTA people need to step in. This happens all the time. And usually the juku teacher never gets caught.

Damn. The fact that a 32 y/o Juku teacher hooking up with a 16 y/o students is only mentioned in passing as informational background in this story is beyond reprehensible. And kind of makes me want to be a Juku teacher.....
