I always see stories like these where "an informant" gave information to the police. Usually, an informant is someone in ties working with the police. So I always wonder if the Police plant these "informants" to spy on some celebrities? Or are they just surrounded by snitches?

What I've learned is that if I were to pick up weed, I'm Snoop Doggin' it all by my lonesome! I ain't passing the dutchie to the left OR right hand side!

The industrial solvent, Ethanol, rules in Nihon and they (the Industry) are desperate to keep Cannabis out because, if it ever becomes legal in Nihon, the Ethanol industry will tank, particularly among people who enjoy more subtle thoughts than Ethanol allows a Human brain to generate. In fact, Cannabis and Ethanol have almost completely opposite effects upon Human cognition, Ethanol dimming one's mind and Cannabis illuminating it. Also, Cannabis does not turn one's Liver to mush nor make that liver more susceptible to the various Hepatitis alphabet of viruses... ...and then there are the non-stoner CBDs which may help to heal that trashed Liver...

Maybe. Immigration and justice are entirely separate departments. There isn’t a direct connection between the two. Often foreigners are deported if their visa expires while they are locked up. But otherwise it’s up to the discretion of immigration, who don’t have a blanket rule on the matter.

Imagine legally being able to grow a herb in your own garden or kitchen that can sort out chronic pain and can relax and rid a body of stress?

I see many people commenting about how Japan's drug laws are not as strict as other Asian countries, and therefor people shouldn't criticize. Thats basically the same argument far-right Israelis make about how Israel is the "only true democracy in the Middle East" or "look at how Saudi Arabia treats non-Muslims" in order to justify its racist policies. Comparing Japan to its neighbors is a non-starter since Japan takes pride in being different from China and other countries. Sure, marijuana IS an illegal substance in Japan, but if you don't allow criticism of any sort against its drug laws, why bother criticising any of its laws?

Spending three months in jail for something you would get laughed out of court for in the “West” is kinda’ screwed. But otherwise you are completely correct.

Being a first-time offender without exceptional circumstance will be enough - he'll get a suspended sentence. That's what happens for first time drug possessions in Japan. I'm not sure why you think being Japanese or rich matters - this is true for rich and poor, Japanese and not.

Breaking the law because you think is a dumb law is unwise.

If you think Japan is bad, you will have a heart attack if you hear about what they would do to him in most other Asian countries.
