Instead of being held to a higher standard as a salaried, pensioned public servant; for the twin crimes of voyeur videos and filching cash in the course of his duties...suspended sentence because the court trusts he won't offend again?!!

Japanese cops have it easy with low street crime and a cozy relationship with organized crime. To be fair American police have a harder time of it, but are also rarely held to task for shooting people and dogs egregiously and abuse of asset seizure.

Police need to be held to a higher standard, not lower, than the populace.

No wonder public trust of Japan’s authorities and courts are at an all time low. Police (and firemen) stealing from victims of tragedies and then getting suspended sentences.

I hope he enjoys the rest of his in life in his fluorescent blue traffic control jacket, holding his orange stick, in the rain and snow, working outside a construction site for ¥800 an hour.

Only a suspended sentence... Surely when those PAID by our tax money to protect us and keep us safe are the ones doing the opposite they deserve some jail time.

I wish - no so. Sadly Police in every country are becoming more and more corrupt.

I always wonder what keeps police from taking cash from houses when people die. I would imagine people usually all hide it in the same places. Seems that would be difficult to stop.

Good old Japan and the suspended sentences. I know we'd all get a suspended sentence for stealing money, though, so I guess it's only fair.
