Bystanders who witnessed a man breaking into a car chased him down and apprehended him in Tokyo's Akiruno City, police said Tuesday.

The suspect, identified as Masaaki Kishino, 47, is suspected of stealing a purse containing around 30,000 yen in cash from a car that was parked near an athletics field. The owners of the car saw Kishino break in, and several people gave chase, holding him down until authorities arrived.

According to police, Kishino, who is unemployed, admits to the charges, saying, "I was aiming for places with a lot of people."

This is a criminal, caught in the felony act. He should receive 5-10yrs in Jail. His Koseki Tohon is now completely stained, and he will probably become a candidate for yakuzadom.

And that is why you don't leave your valuables in your car. I'll bet the purse was sitting on the front seat in plain view and probably even open. I was at the beach the other day when some joker was running around looking for his wallet. I asked him what was going on and he told me it was stolen from his car. I asked him where his wallet was in the car and he told me he left it sitting on the dash. Idiots!

Kudos to the 4 witnesses, chasing after the thief, not knowing if he was armed, knife-carrying or not. Good example to the police there...
