Father arrested for fatal abuse of 2-month-old daughter last year

Police in Osaka have arrested a 24-year-old man on suspicion of fatally abusing his two-month-old daughter at their home last year.

According to police, Hironobu Murata, a company employee, violently shook his daughter Kurumi sometime during the day on Oct 27, 2018, at their home Higashiyodogawa Ward, Sankei Shimbun reported. The infant suffered acute subdural hematoma (bleeding in the brain) and died five days later.

Murata was living with his wife, mother-in-law, and Kurumi. At the time of the incident, Kurumi's mother and grandmother had gone to work, leaving the infant alone with her father. Kurumi’s mother noticed something wrong with her when she returned home from work that night and took her to a hospital the next morning.

After Kurumi’s death on Nov 1, the hospital contacted a child welfare center about a possible case of child abuse. The center contacted police.

Police said Murata, who was arrested on Tuesday, has admitted to shaking his daughter and quoted him as saying, “I got exasperated because she wouldn’t stop crying.”

Police did not say why it has taken one year for them to arrest Murata.

Curious question, was he in detention the entire time?

Tragic and repugnant. It seems we get daily reminders of aspects of Japanese society that are still stuck in the 50s, e.g., not knowing how to deal with a crying infant.

Again and again! There is just not enough love in Japan. Children are a burden and duty in Japan and so many parents just don't know how to cope.

despite the fact that japan has one of the lowest murder rates in the world, you think there's not enough love in japan?

AND actually, quite a few people kill because of "love," or what they think is "love."

Japan has a low violent crime murder rate. However, the rate of family murders stands out from the crowd.

I've heard such claims regularly made on this site, yet no one has ever shown any numbers that show Japan to stand out from the crowd when it comes to any time of murders, family or otherwise.

The only place Japan stands out murder stats is 'number of murders committed in Japan'. They have more of those than any other country.

At 2 months old, a crying baby either needs a diaper change, a feeding, or wants to be held. It's not rocket science.

'I got exasperated because she wouldn't stop crying.' Well moron, now she'll never cry again.

I wonder why the hell it took a year to arrest this dumbass

I hope this idiot does not plan to make more babies. Clearly he is not qualified to be around them.
