Father, daughter found dead in apparent murder-suicide

A 79-year-old man and his 43-year-old daughter have been found dead at their house in Hamura, Tokyo, in what police believe was a murder-suicide.

According to police, the man’s oldest son, who lives in another residence, visited his family on Saturday at around 9:50 a.m. and found the bodies, Sankei Shimbun reported. Police said the father had apparently hanged himself in a first-floor tatami mat room. His daughter was lying face-up in the living room after having been strangled.

Police said the front door was locked and there were no signs of forced entry.

The son told police his father and sister had bickered over financial issues for at least a year. Police said they had been consulted on at least one occasion.

Suicide is never the answer. It's the easiest way out.

Whatever the issue was, probably wasn’t worth it.

This is a murder-suicide. If the father had committed suicide first then the daughter would be alive.

But nothing about murder, I guess? I'd rather the old codger had taken himself out and left the daughter alone if things were that bad, but hey...

Wow. Murder at age 79, and his own daughter to boot. Mind boggling.

What has come of this society? Elderly people committing these crimes time after time.

What, was going to therapy not a viable option? Oh wait.. It's Japan so of course it's not.

",,,going to therapy..." Then a smarmy aside aimed at 'Japan' - writ large. That is simply witless.

I doubt it was premeditated.

Wow the old man got to have the best years of his life and because of MONEY he takes out his own daughter. That was not but "MURDER" and because he had nothing else to live for rather than going to jail he takes himself out cutting out the perhaps the middle years of his daughters life. Its Sad to say who was at fault but no matter how much debt you have you can either do with it or with out it because in the end you can't take it with you, not even the money which was the root cause!!!

So extremely sad.....

Unmarried daughter living home at age 43, likely looking after her father. Father possibly living off a limited pension. Two different lives trying their best to coexist. And the son aware of their home situation. The law with their hands tide unable to interfere unless there's immediate physical harm. Sadly ending in a cold case to archive. This is plain wrong on so many levels.
