Parents of 9 kids arrested after baby's remains found in clothes case

Police in Suita, Osaka Prefecture, have arrested an unemployed 42-year-old man on suspicion of abandoning a body after the skeletal remains of a newborn baby boy were found in a plastic clothes case in his apartment.

The man, Kensho Shirato, and his wife who is in her 30s, have nine children, Fuji TV reported Friday. The remains of the infant -- the couple's 10th child -- were found on Thursday as part of a police investigation into Shirato's abuse of his 16-year-old daughter in March. A teacher at the girl's school noticed her bruises and contacted the local child welfare center.

Shirato was arrested for beating the girl who suffered a broken nose, police said.

According to Shirato's wife, the baby boy refused to dink any milk and died a few days after his birth about a year ago. The corpse was wrapped in a blanket and placed in the clothes container.

Police said the couple's nine children have been taken into protective custody.

wow baby refusing milk, first time I've ever heard of that! Please somebody wrap him in a blanket and place him in a clothes container for a year.

What a family ! Is it really sure it's the wife's baby, not the girl's ? From what I read, the baby is in such a state that they don't know the gender, so they have not yet done the DNA check.

that's ghetto!!

Not your classic ghetto. Suita is a rather wealthy suburb of Osaka, Bobo-town. But, but, but... Most families are decent, and really few work (or don't work) for the mob. A recurrent issue is there is no cooperation with authorities (lack of trust caused by past disctimination and injustice) and that protects the rotten apples. The Red Army terros, the Aum weirdos that were hidden decades, you remember ? They had lived quietly in Suita and how it is possible that they were not found in years is still a mystery... officially. .

When I googled his name, yakuza-type pics popped up ;( Don't believe everything I read on the Net,

It's plausible.

Where were protective services for the kids before this?

Hiding themselves... I mean in Europe, they are relectant to intervene much in the Gipsy and Roma campments, nor in certain closed religious communities, otherwise the group revolts violently against the intrusion. Same in Japan. They waited for some irrefutable proof like the girl's bruises.

Both need to be put in a room, beat, not fed and when they die, LOCK THEM IN.

As I said before and people made a mountain out of a molehill, some people should have their rights taken away for having children if they are going to keep having children that they are going to abuse and/or kill.

NO, I am not talking about chemical castration but they should not get any government support. If you think a child should go from the cradle to the grave in a short span, that is on you.

Surely there would have been some indication of the level of depravity in this family. Where were protective services for the kids before this?

hmmm unemployed man, father of 10 children (possibly more). When I googled his name, yakuza-type pics popped up ;(

Don't believe everything I read on the Net, but what kind of douche punches his daughter in the nose?

They should never had been allowed to breed in the first place.

Exactly. Japan is certainly NO PLACE to allow for "ghettos" & "barrios" like conditions. I'm all for population growth, there n' japan, but not in these circumstances.

Babies don't refuse to drink milk, it's the most basic of instinct human babies have. There can be issues latching onto the breast or feeding from a bottle though, in which case you do everything you can including spoonfeeding a baby formula or I dunno, say, taking it to see a doctor!?

I'm only speculating, but if the baby wasn't known to be missing it could have been born without medical supervision or checkups in which case it could have suffered from IUGR or some other condition preventing feeding, in which case again, take it to a doctor! RIP little baby..

children should never have to suffer for their parents incompetence - could have used a condom

The amount of infant deaths in Japan is very disturbing.

Same thing happens in the States in every big city, mostly, but say anything about it and you're called a racist or a bigot. I hope with this article that some now might realize that this is not about race, but our disgust of freeloaders.

After a few children, you've got to stop and ask yourself, should we learn more about family planning.

He should have been arrested for child abuse and possibly infanticide

He will be. This is just a holding charge.

well, he obviously DIDNT abandon the body since it was still in his closet.

'Abandon' is an English translation of 放棄 (ほうき houki), but it doesn't mean abandon as in to get rid of in another place, rather it's the abdication of responsibility that they are referring to.

Where was the mother in all this? I personally don't believe her story either about the baby refusing to drink milk.

He should have been arrested for child abuse and possibly infanticide along with his wife for complacancy.

@TheGodfather

the couple’s nine children have been taken into protective custody

This is the best news I've read on JT in a long time!!...

I agree however, they probably won't be there for long... How many other stories have we read about children being "temporarily" taken into protective custody only to be released to the parent(s) who abused them in the first place ?

Shirato needs to be castrated.

Talk about a welfare parasite! You have to feel sorry for the kids though. They didn't ask to be brought into the world nor to be abused by this scumbag. Now, these kids have become wards of the state and will most likely be separated and sent into foster care. Tha is the real crime!

Woe . . . that's ghetto!! 9-10 children?

Off your dime. They probably get about 400,000 / mo. in welfare. Not enough to send their kids to school, but enough to sit around and make more babies.

Would that be considered below pov level here? Where is the line drawn?

The kind of bottom feeders that give the welfare state a bad name. Poor children to have been born into this "family" and raised by these "people". I hope the kids get through this trauma.

Unemployed and producing 10 children .. how do they live.
