Fireman arrested for exposing himself to woman in Yokohama

Police in Yokohama said Friday they have arrested a 59-year-old fireman on suspicion of public indecency after he dropped his pants and exposed his lower body in front of a woman.

According to police, the incident occurred at around 10:40 p.m. on Wednesday in Naka Ward, Sankei Shimbun reported. Police said Hiroto Masuda, who works for the Yokohama Fire Department, has denied the allegation, and quoted him as saying he was drunk after being at a party with his colleagues, and can’t remember anything.

The woman told police she was walking along the sidewalk when Masuda approached her from the front and then suddenly dropped his pants and flashed her.

The woman called 110 and Masuda was arrested not too far from the scene.

Drunk and can't remember. The stock excuse, it seems.

Maybe he just wanted to take a post-drinking pee and didn’t notice another person walking on the sidewalk.

Something to brag about maybe.

Funny thing! I started reading and thought to myself, I bet he was drunk and doesn’t remember. Low and behold, there it is! Being so drunk one can’t remember should be part of the offense, not part of the defense.

Yeah! Or maybe his belt was loose, and his pants accidentally fell down just as she walked up!

Or maybe someone was behind him and pulled his pants down as a joke just as she appeared!

Or maybe he was sleepy and thought he was already at home in his bedroom, and started to undress for bed and ooops! He woke up and realized he was accidentaly flashing someone!

Or maybe he is a pervert and did it on purpose.

I think that's a really good idea.

Being so drunk that is makes you commit a crime should automatically mean a harsher sentence.

I am so sick of hearing this 'I was drunk' excuse.

How did they ID him? Any distinguishing features?

Just feeling hot

In my opinion, if he can still walk his way home, he is not too drunk not to remember his misdeeds. One point of contention, he was apprehended right away, not the day after. A drunk person tends to looses his memory after he took a nap not before. He did it in purpose.

Flashers, eh? Not impressed. Don't worry, fella, it's the personality that counts!

If he was so drunk he couldn't remember, how can he deny the allegations?

I always wonder how the police arrest people so quickly in cases like this. Even if it only takes them 10 minutes to come that's a massive radius to find someone in. You could be far away by then. And how on earth do they recognise them especially as she probably wouldn't be able to describe anything apart from what had presumably been covered up by then.

Maybe he's still drunk.
