While this is highly unfortunate, 14 thefts from unlocked cars during 6 months! I am happy to live in Japan. And only one theft during the same 6 months one year earlier...

If people there are stealing out of desperation, then clearly the authorities are not doing enough to support the victims.

Excellently argued, timeon . Mabi has a population of 20,000 citizens. If it weren't for this disaster, theft from unlocked cars is only 1 or 2 cars a year. In a Western Nation, a city of 20,000 likely will have these thefts from 1 or 2 cars each day!

Having said that, it seems construction workers are behind this spike in crimes. Give them minimum 10 years in jail to reflect sincerely about these crimes.

Reported. There is no way you cannot prove there were not more. Face it, petty theft, while low comparatively speaking (murder and other crimes are the same as anywhere else, or worse in some cases) is on the rise. I mean, and this is also the nation where "Ore ore sagi" exists where it does not anywhere else. I'd maybe remember that before preaching about how "safety country" the place is.
