A 33-year-old former caregiver has been arrested on suspicion of stealing a Rolex watch from the home of a 67-year-old woman who he was visiting to provide care for in 2023.
Police said Yu Nakajima is accused of stealing the watch (worth 130,000 yen at the time) from the woman’s home in Kawasaki City in August, 2023, TV Asahi reported.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department, Nakajima was with two colleagues at the time, and while they were helping the woman, he stole the watch from an accessory box in the bedroom.
That same day, Nakajima took the watch to a precious metals store in Kanagawa Prefecture and exchanged it for cash.
Police said Nakajima has admitted stealing the watch and quoted him as saying,"I was short of money and in financial trouble."

This happens a LOT, and another "con" not talked about are all these people working in nursing homes busy trying to get named in their 'customers/patients' wills.

No, this doesn’t happen a lot. 99.9% of nursing staff and care staff are honest, kind. Hard working and want to do the best for their patients. Nobody wants to “try” and get into anyone’s wills. Absolutely nobody! we go into that profession because we “like people”, we actually think it’s “worthwhile” in terms of job satisfaction. So it’s not a “con”. If that’s your way of thinking , you shouldn’t ever go to hospital see a doctor or a nurse.Ofcourse there are bad apples in every profession but that’s why when they break our trust the courts come down on them.

Unless it’s a really battered and/or has some significant damage on it, would be hard to find a Rolex for that price. Even the ladies models that are relatively less expensive are going for half a million second hand.

Personally know of a caregiver being "given" a valuable home by a person who was under their care. It's real and it happens. Nobody's surprised as it's human nature.

I think they are talking about the actual retail price from an authorised Rolex dealer when the watch was purchased
