Former teacher arrested for kidnapping, confining 12-year-old girl with stun gun in Nagasaki

A 35-year-old former teacher was arrested on Saturday for kidnapping and confining a 12-year-old schoolgirl for two days at his apartment in Nagasaki City, police said Monday. Police said that Futoshi Nakagawa, a former part-time teacher at a public primary school and currently unemployed, kidnapped the girl while she was on her way to a prep school about 5 p.m. on Thursday.

Police said he used a stun gun on the girl and then took her to his apartment in a taxi. The girl's family reported her missing Thursday night and police put out an alert. The taxi driver reported Saturday that he had picked up a male passenger who had been carrying a girl matching the description of the missing girl.

Nakagawa was arrested in his apartment by police on Saturday. The girl was also found at the apartment and taken to hospital where she remains in a stable condition, police said.

The taxi driver told police that the girl seemed unconscious in the car. He told police he heard what sounded like sparks during the journey. Police found a stun gun at Nakagawa's apartment.

Police said the girl was given food and was not tied up at the apartment when she was rescued.

So the taxi driver picked up the guy carrying an unconscious girl on Thursday but reported it on Saturday, right?

Yup, hard to tell who is more pathetic in this case. The nutjob ex-teacher or the scumbag taxi driver who waits 2 days to report what he saw

Former teacher? Doesn't say why he was finished with teaching at the age of 35, however, I think most people could work out the reason.

This guy should get the whole kit and caboodle when it comes to the charging process. Using a stun gun on a child is attempted murder. You also have assault occasioning actual bodily harm (she is in hospital), kidnapping and confinement are also relevant. What about the stun gun, can he go down on that as well? Despite maligning the police for much of their work, I congratulate them on finding this chap before the child was killed. I also hope that the police pile so man charges on this guy that he gets life without parole.

It shows much weakness of his intelligence to plan such a crime by having a stun-gun and then using a taxi to take her to his apartment. Above everything else I must ask: "WHAT IS THE RECRUITING CRITERIA FOR TEACHERS?!?" or "IS THERE AN ACTUAL SCREENING PROCESS FOR RECRUITING TEACHERS?!?" I know that exceptions cannot be avoided, but something seems to be fundamentally wrong in this education system. Being a teacher should be an honourable profession, leave priesthood (or nunhood) for the wackjobs.

Yea.... Are you surprised..? I can't say I am... Frankly I'm just surprised the police found the girl alive, and didn't screw that up...

But in Japan, it's every other week, you read about some outrageous act or crime by a teacher, principal, school superintendent, police officer, etc...

I don't think you can blame the taxi driver. For all he knew, the girl might have been asleep in her father's arms. The police put the alert out on Thursday night. Perhaps, he was off on Friday or didn't see the alert until Saturday.

Gee, now they are into electrifying news.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I can't imagine someone stungunning a barely concious child in a taxi with the driver right there. The driver is probably lucky to be alive. How animal...

saborichan at least the taxi driver could have inquired to the state of the girl. I hope the girl did not endure too much hardship during her confinement

This creep was a teacher??

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Taxi driver should have driven to the local Koban. What a loser.

dennis0bauer: saborichan at least the taxi driver could have inquired to the state of the girl.

How do you know he didn't?

Taxi driver: Is she, uh, okay?

Nut: My daughter? Yeah, just sleeping. She has had a busy day. Now be quiet or you will wake her.

Another thing I think I should point out is that taxi drivers seem to get killed here at the rate of about one a year. They deal with all sorts of situations that one might deem suspicious. Asking too many questions could get more dead. Reporting every suspicious situation would make them look like the boy who cried wolf.

And it is so darn easy to look back with 20/20 hindsight and expect the taxi driver to know he was stun-gunning the girl. I have never witnessed a real stun-gunning in its entirety, but my image was certainly not quietly unconscious while it happened. My image was screaming bloody murder. So I would not have known either.

Some people here seem to have a case of net-nads while they sit all comfy at home typing out how others are losers for not doing something totally dangerous and potentially very problematic.

that taxi driver = fired. at very least or so i would hope

How the hell was the taxi driver supposed to know the guy wasn't just carrying his sleeping daughter?

The article says he heard the alert about the missing girl later and realized...

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Anyways, I'm sure the taxi driver was just as stunned as everyone else when he heard the news.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Even if the taxi driver had reported it right away what do you think the police reaction would have been? I'm betting nothing more than a thanks and a nod in the koban; I doubt an arse would have left a chair!

Orions3rdEye: Another know-nothing reader who is blaming the taxi driver. As other readers have stated, there are lots of reasons why the taxi driver might not have noticed anything was amiss.

In fact, the taxi driver is responsible for the girl being rescued. After seeing the alert, he notified the police and the girl was found safely. And you want to fire him. Yeah right.

Anyway, Mr Taxi Driver, on behalf of Orions3rdEye, hoserfella, and yelnats, I thank you for reporting the incident to the police.

they would have as soon as the missing persons report came in. Oh man, I would imagine he did ghastly things to her when she was unconscious at his home. Hope they put him away forever.

Thank you taxi driver, in my books you are a hero, and unemployed teacher should face heavy music if possible, normally suspended sentence is 'PRIMA.'

0 ( +0 / -0 )

unbelievable some of the posters here who consider the taxi driver a "hero" for doing the obvious - 2 days too late. Its through sheer luck that she's still alive and supposedly un-molested. All he did was prolong her terror for 48 additional hours, but I guess thats the level of common sense for so many these days.

hoserfella is right. At the very least the taxi driver eventually did what was right despite having head buried in sand syndrome like most Japanese but the outcome could have been so much worse thanks to his lack of courage when it really counted.

poor girl

Another example of a "sicko" and "weirdo" individuals in Japan. But wait, we are talking about a school teacher, someone who was supposed to be trusted around kids, someone who should protect children from sicko's like, ahem, himself...

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I suppose all this taxi-driver bashing comes from people who don´t have kids.

I don´t remember how often I taken a taxi with one or two of my sleeping or dozy kids... the idea that the taxi driver would accuse me of being a kidnapper and driving to the koban is bizarre.

I wonder where about in my fair city. I was out of town and hadn't flipped on the news. Scary stuff and pretty rare here.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

WilliB - go back and read the last bit about the kid appearing "unconscious" and hearing sparks. I dont think one needs to have kids to have a red flag go up. Do you?

A commercial driver in an urban area will not have his head in the cab let alone the back seat. His primary concentration will be on the traffic and on navigating. Pick up a fare, drive the fare, drop off the fare, find another fare, pick up the fare, drive the fare, and etc. for hours and hours. I don't know about Japan, but getting taxi drivers to remember things about passengers is notoriously hard. They remember locations easier than they do fares. So that's usually where you start.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I don't know, I've carried on conversations with cabbies when I'm in the front seat. So I think this guy should have had a clue that something was amiss. He should have just stopped at the first koban, parked the car and asked the cop to check it out.

As far as the sicko is concerned, I hope they lock him up until he is senile. This guy is a rape / murder waiting to happen.

any news on the sentence to that guy yet?

any news on the sentence to that guy yet?

Do you mean the taxi driver? What the heck! A youngish guy gets into taxi with an unconscious 12y/o, but doesn't go to a hospital and the taxi driver just took the fare? What a knob head!

I'm glad the girl was rescued and I hope she was not sexually assaulted by this clown.

However, taking a look at the bigger picture, it's self-defeating to prosecute cases like this when Japan's colossal porn industry legally cranks out tons of confinement and rape vids of school girls each year.

Japan has too many guys perverted by such stuff, and this 35 y/o dirtbag was a teenager when such stuff became commonplace on the shelves of video shops.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

If this case had anything to do with rape porn and confinement videos, then Japan would have many of these cases every year. They don't. So obviously, the contention is absurd.

The problem is the guy, not movies he may or may not have watched. And anyone who has the ability to separate the reality of the low incidence of such crime and the fantasy that the number of videos causes such crime, can see that. If anything, the numbers would suggest the opposite conclusion.

"If this case had anything to do with rape porn and confinement videos, then Japan would have many of these cases every year. They don't. So obviously, the contention is absurd."

Anybody that has lived in Japan for many years and doesn't look at the country through rose-colored lenses knows the truth.

I'll bet you my contention is spot on, but let's wait for further reports about what the police find in this bozo's apartment and what people who know him have to say.

agreed, pathat. Human garbage like this bozo all tend to have the same pathetic little fetishes

pathat: I'll bet you my contention is spot on, but let's wait for further reports about what the police find in this bozo's apartment and what people who know him have to say.

So your contention is that only this guy and maybe a few others are affected by such videos to the point that they would actually do that? Because that I can agree with. But you have to accept that for all the videos, the incidence of this sort of crime is low, so most guys are not so affected. In other words, this guy was born loony.

But you also contended that the videos were perverting male minds. But if you ask me, no man needs a video to dream up such a thing. They already do. The difference between them and this guy is that they can control themselves and this guy could not. And also, if you ask me, such fantasies are better entertained than left to fester.

hoserfella: Human garbage like this bozo all tend to have the same pathetic little fetishes

I think the both of you might want to wait until some more details come out. It is saying a lot about both you that you assume a sexual motive despite there being no mention of anything but genders and ages and...uh...stun guns.

likeitis- another brilliant deduction! It never occurred to me that the poor gentleman in question just wanted her for the stimulating conversation that only a 12year-old girl can provide.

I will consider that a baby step away from your one-track mind. But I believe you can do better.

likeitis:

Could you clarify your statement above? Sounds a bit odd to me. If you believe this, you're similar to the perp.

And the only place for this guy is in a nice rough max security prison. Once the inmates find out what he did, its over.

Ciao

come on likeitis, you can't be serious with this statement? As far as I'm aware, only Jesus never had any fantasies that would have ended up in a potential custodial sentence.

Well, I am glad the wheels inside the taxi drivers head finally started to turn... "Missing girl + unconscious girl in my cab" Hmmm… …a few hours of the Jeopardy theme… “hey, there was something strange about that passed out girl”!
