Not because he's south Korean it's because he's a CRIMINAL !!! Now if you notice he's defiant in his look he's making a face of I'm a tough guy. But in my opinion he's a LOSER at 64 years of age a person should be settled in there way of life and enjoying the golden years NOT listed on a nationwide wanted list and running from the law.

100% of the time if the fugitive is on the run, they release the mug shot.

Not sure whether Japanese police are losing law enforcement capability or whether local media are paying more attention to police mishaps for reporting. By statistic figures, the overall number of crimes are going further down to a record low.

Or maybe since he is on the wanted list, he can’t go to the Conbini, ride a train, use an ATM, buy a cell phone etc without being caught and decided to surrender for a lighter sentence.

Osaka police have been in the spotlight recently, but this is a good reminder that police nation-wide are just as incompetent!

How about the money that he had to be able to go to Nagoya in the first place? Did he steal along the way or did the police let him keep the cash he originally stole because they liked his winning smile?

Lets not forget that it was the incompetent police that let him get away from the police hospital to begin with…. The complete story as shown on NHK went something like this…
Kim – “I need t to go to the toilet”
Police - “Ok, I will accompany you to the toilet block and wait outside”
Kim enters…. a short time later – “Hey policeman, can you go get my note book, its in my room”… wink wink wink…
Police – “Sure, let me go get it for you”…. Gullible Policeman goes looking for non existent notebook…
And that’s when Kim made his escape… Don’t the police here ever learn?…. A few months ago there was a huge man hunt for a man who escaped from a police station (stealing their shoes on the way out)…
Oh and how did Kim get caught? Well he didn’t…. he must have felt sorry for them and decided to make their life much easier by turning himself in…. the same way many fugitives get caught to re-caught in Japan.

No. It is very common in Japan to show criminal suspects in media, on posters in public areas etc.
As for this man. I would love to know what more crimes he had allegedly committed. Unforgivable. After the prosecution, he could spend many , many years in prison.

A few days ago, there was a couple of mugshots of Nigerian fraudsters, in chains (!) posted right here, courtesy of AP.
Nobody complained then.

It’s quite standard to release mugshots or security cam screenshots of fugitives. Nationality has nothing to do with it. Just the other week the Ibaraki road rager and Aichi convenience store robber’s photos were all over the news.

Hell of a picture. I wonder, at the motivation for putting his picture here? Is it because he is South Korean?
I dont recall ever seeing a mug shot of a Japanese suspect here so why point this guy out?
