For years now, there has been debate over the use of women-only train cars, with some complaining that its sexist and discriminatory. While it is technically discriminatory, it’s unfortunately needed, and here’s a great example why.

On Jan 9, a 27-year-old man was arrested for sexual assault by licking the ear of a woman he had a crush on.

According to reports he had first seen the victim months ago in the area of Wakahisa, Fukuoka City, and developed an affection before finally making his move at about 11:05 p.m. on Nov 5.

The victim, an 18-year-old part-time worker, had never met the suspect before he suddenly hugged her from behind and licked her ear on a street in Ohashi in Fukuoka’s Minami Ward. She was able to escape and reported it to police who eventually identified and located the suspect using surveillance cameras in the area.

The man, who works for a life insurance company, is said to have admitted to the crime, which netizens largely agreed was totally vile.

“Gross gross gross gross”

“Suddenly grabbing people and licking their ears is what yokai do. If you do that, you’re a yokai.”

“There seems to be a lot of these weird fetish crimes happening recently.”

“That’s just rude. Always ask first.”

“That’s like something from a horror movie.”

“How was this guy raised?”

“That’s what happens when you read too much of those weird erotic manga.”

“Death penalty.”

“If he was handsome, it wouldn’t have been a problem.”

For years now, there has been debate over the use of women-only train cars, with some complaining that its sexist and discriminatory.

This until you have a wife, a daughter who needs to use trains during peak hours. This carriage protects woman not only from chikan, but also from those horses that shove, push, elbow everyone around when getting into/off trains, even when there is plenty of space to gently walk into the carriage.

He didn't just lick her ear though, did he, though putting that in the header makes it sounds more comical and attention-grabbing. He had been stalking her, and then assaulted her, and physically restrained her.

Trying to establish what a woman's only train cars has to with a woman being grabbed on the street and having her ear licked.

his move at about 11:05 p.m. on Nov 5.

Regardless if it happened on the street or in a train car at this time of night both the streets and trains would have been deserted.

Difficult topic. On one side it's like being punished because one is born a man and therefore should be segregated from one's opposite sex and sends a message that all men are sexists and chikans. On the other hand its like hmm why should women have worrisome issues with riding a public vehicle because some man is going to grope them. Should she be punished for being a woman? Perhaps it goes back to respect, morals and basics not taught any longer. Technically speaking this is not the way as it only promotes further segregation of the sexes and over the long run causes hostility amongst both sexes. Education, Moral standards and respect/honor should be brought back.

Okay let me at least start by saying this guy is a creep and should be punished to the full extent of the law.

However this case is no defense for Women Only Cars whatsoever. The article makes a poor case and comes off more as an opinion based read.

While it is technically discriminatory, it’s unfortunately needed, and here’s a great example why.

At no point does the article state that he found her on the train.

According to reports he had first seen the victim months ago in the area of Wakahisa, Fukuoka City, and developed an affection before finally making his move at about 11:05 p.m. on Nov 5.

When the act was committed the young woman was not on a train, nor the perpetrator.

he suddenly hugged her from behind and licked her ear on a street in Ohashi in Fukuoka’s Minami Ward.

There is nothing to suggest that the train had anything to do with is this act and the perpetrator. Also referring to him as a suspect is incorrect as he admitted to committing the act.

The whole article is very unprofessional and makes Women Only Cars look worse for being discriminatory AND for not protecting women anyway.

The guy was a lone pervert nothing more. Please be better. Both men and Japan Today.
