Fukuoka prefectural police have arrested a 57-year-old assistant police inspector on suspicion of causing injury resulting in the death of his 55-year-old sister in Kitakyushu.

According to police, Moritaka Hirose has denied the allegation, Kyodo News reported. His sister, Michie Yamamoto, was found collapsed on a road in Kitakyushu City at around 9:55 p.m. on Dec 31. A passerby called 110 and said that a woman was lying on the street, and that she was bleeding from the face and head. The woman was taken to hospital where she died from a traumatic brain injury at around 6 a.m. on Jan 1.

Police said that before the incident, Hirose went to multiple bars and drank alcohol with Yamamoto and other relatives and acquaintances. He was quoted as saying, “I don't remember punching anyone in the face with my fist.”

Police are investigating whether there was some kind of trouble between the two siblings.

There are horrible people around. No matter how much training is provided for them to be a member of the respectable organisation such as police department, they would still not change.

i wish penalty was double for people who do crimes while under the influence of alcohol, and or when they claim that they don’t remember what they did. If you double the penalties, everyone will start remembering their crimes clearly.

Based on the injuries described, if he punched her with fists, it must be visible on them. May the lady have a peaceful afterlife.

I can't believe it took so long.

We should start a betting pool for how many times that excuse will be given in crime articles at JT in 2024.

A policeman, a policeman! Can you believe it?

Another scoundrel either possessed by demonic forces or turned into a mentalist for unknown reasons.

This man is meant to uphold the law and have high integrity yet he has committed a crime so heinous even the most hardened man would be in shock and feel queasy. Why oh why is this happening more regularly now, something isn’t right and action needs to be taken.

“I don't remember punching anyone in the face with my fist.

That's quite a detailed thing you don't remember.
