A member of a yakuza group died in hospital in Takasaki, Gunma Prefecture, after losing consciousness following a fight with police, in which he bit two officers.
According to police, they received an emergency call reporting a heated argument inside a mobile phone store at around 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Fuji TV reported. When police arrived, they found Shingo Omi, 33, a known member of the Matsuba-kai yakuza group, acting violently. During the altercation, it took seven police officers to restrain Omi, during which time he bit two of them.
Omi lost consciousness and was taken to hospital where he was confirmed dead. Police said an illegal stimulant drug was detected in Omi’s urine sample.© Japan Today
