A gang member, arrested for possessing stimulant drugs, has been re-arrested after he made a brazen escape from a hospital in Omitama, Ibaraki Prefecture, on Dec 16.
Last June, a warrant was issued for the arrest of Yoshiyuki Yuhara, 41, a member of the organized crime syndicate Matsuba-kai, for possession of stimulant drugs, Fuji TV reported. Yuhara tried to escape from police when they showed up at his residence on Nov 6, by jumping from the balcony. He injured his leg and had been in hospital since that time.
Police had been waiting for Yuhara to recover before formally arresting him. On Dec 16, as he was about to be discharged from hospital, Yuhara -- who was in a wheelchair -- suddenly jumped up, ran out of the hospital and got into a car that was waiting outside for him. Three policemen were behind him at the time of his escape but were unable to prevent his getaway.
He has been on a nationwide wanted list since.
Police in Ibaraki said they received a tip on Yuhara's whereabouts on Wednesday and arrested him at a house in Tsuchiura City, along with two confederates.

Probably not.

"was arrested for possession of stimulant drugs in June 2016, Fuji TV reported. Yuhara tried to escape from police when they showed up at his residence on Nov 6, "
What happened after that June arrest? Was he still on waiting or on trial in Nov? Had he already been found guilty and sentenced? Why did the police go to his home in Nov?

Our mistake. A warrant was issued for his arrest in June.

November, that is.
I like how it took four months for the police to find the time to wander over to his residence and serve him.

Ah, that makes much more sense, thanks for clearing it up.

But we don't know that to be true do we? It could be that they went to his home and other places multiple times but just didn't happen to find him until then.

I like the use of the word confederates - very Elliott Ness.

Have the Japanese police ever heard of handcuffs?

Wonder if the keystones will just leave the Koban door open again this time as they do in many cases while they snooze in front. Anyway, I smell a suspended sentence in the works.

@sensei: he will be sentenced in a criminal court. Where you got your idea of suspended sentence?

someone snitched. Good for them. Hope they can move away and start afresh.
