I sure hope that he has the "actual evidence", it is credible, and he makes it available. Otherwise he will come out of the press conference looking like a fool rambling about conspiracy theories.

If he does provide the evidence, then it could have major repercussions within the government.

Not guilty people don't run like a terrorist. Be real Carlos, funding terrorism?

If there was a great wrong committed involving large sums of money . . . the "whistleblowers" are doing ethical duty to provide information, and should be protected from harm.

"So... the scanners didn't see a human body?? It becomes more and more obvious just how poor the security here is. Absolutely amazing. And no one on the bullet train recognized him? Or in Kansai Airport? Just amazing, if it were not Japan."

Stated by someone totally clueless about the facts of the case; unbelievable.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

He can beat the drum all he wants, but in the eyes of the world he is the one in the wrong here.

Pretty presumptuous of you to speak on behalf of the entire world, no?

5 ( +5 / -0 )

at a press conference in Beirut at 3 p.m. on Wednesday (10 p.m. Japan time), a U.S. broadcaster said Tuesday.

Get comfortable and keep the popcorn ready!

Can't wait to hear what he has to say.

I hope he reveals more about the criminal Saikawa.

Why isn't Saikawa being prosecuted in Japan for his crimes?

Oh I forgot.

He's Japanese.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

je suis Ghosn.

Hope he absolutely names and shames the "prosecutors" and others involved. Let the World see just how disgusting these "prosecutors" and so called japanese "justice" is.

...while all Japan has to show is that it treats Foreign CEOs far differently...

That British CEO of Olympus was smart. He left the country first, before blowing the whistle. Otherwise, the crooked execs there probably would have Ghosned him too.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Can't wait! Let's go!!!

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Name and shame the dirt bags!

4 ( +4 / -0 )

So for those who need to escape avoid at Haneda, Narita, Chubu and Kansai airports. Thanks for the tip!

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Anyway, looking forward to seeing Ghosn's proof. Japan's proof is, "Well, we said so, and if you don't believe us, and all the seniors of the company's internal investigation agree, it would be regrettable. You must believe us... we are your seniors!" Fortunately, that doesn't fly internationally. Ghosn probably has something actually tangible, while all Japan has to show is that it treats Foreign CEOs far differently, and that they have extremely poor security.

"Ghosn was reportedly smuggled out of the country in a large trunk used for audio equipment that was too large to fit through airport scanners."

So... the scanners didn't see a human body?? It becomes more and more obvious just how poor the security here is. Absolutely amazing. And no one on the bullet train recognized him? Or in Kansai Airport? Just amazing, if it were not Japan.

To be honest, I am not expecting too much out of this. Don't get me wrong, it would be awesome if he starts divulging real, tangible dirt on people and events.

However, that is not my expectation. He will likely mention a couple of names. Names that will be of no surprise to anyone. He may even wave around a couple of documents and say he has the evidence.

But then I think he will pivot and just talk about his "ordeal" in generalities. He will talk about the "injustices". And he will talk about how he is working to gather more information now that he is free and out of Japan.

I think the whole intent of the press conference is his attempt to begin to shape the narrative in the international press. He knows there is no point in Japan. He knows Japan Inc. will walk in lockstep. His goal will be to further cultivate a sympathetic image for himself and his wife in the eyes of the international press.

And, on that front, Japan has just played right into his hands. By issuing an arrest warrant for Carole, they give him the ammunition to say that the Japanese authorities are vindictive and will stop at nothing to "get him".

Trust me. When he talks about a court preventing him from seeing his wife as one of the bail conditions and now issuing an arrest warrant, the average person outside of Japan will instinctively view it as petty and contemptible.

Anyway, we shall see.

Bunch of hogwash if you ask me.

He was in a detention center most of the time and had no contact with the outside.

The documents will need to be after he was detained or it will just be his personal speculations.

He had a spare passport hidden to get him out of Japan, I’m pretty sure he’s got dirt on the coup Japan Inc plotted.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

He's out of Japan. The spectators are the world media, business & governments. They're the ones looking at the future of Japan. Whatever spin goes on in Japan is water under the bridge, history. The center stage now will be Kasumigaseki.

It seems to me Ghosn would need the trial somewhere as long as there are charges of financial misconduct. Otherwise he would not be really free even if he is in Lebanon forever. As long as he is running from unfinished trial, he will never be innocent officially. Ghosn and his wife may always worry a lot about something every time when they go overseas from Lebanon.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

Forgot his live show last time? Don't get too excited.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Jake Adelstein had a great article in the Daily Beast about this whole Ghosn affair.

Clearly Ghosn was held to an unfair different standard, and he was most definitely screwed by the judicial system that wanted him out at any cost.

One interesting tidbit that is not being discussed a whole lot is that 10 days before Ghosn's escape, Japanese State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Keisuke Suzuki, visited Lebanon for the first time in three years.

Doesn't sound like a coincidence to me. Ultimately Ghosn leaving was the best option for Japan especially with the Olympic games coming up soon. Don't let all the hand wringing and belly aching by the Japanese media and system fool you, this was THE best option for both parties, Ghosn is free and ready to expose names, and Japan rids itself of this problem.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

Good for you Mr Ghosn, you are not guilty until is proven by the Japanese low, maybe you are a fugitive, but it doesn’t make you gilt until the court of the “Japanese low” proves their point, by the way I don’t think you fill up your taxes forms in Japan by your self do you...? Is obvios who’s the guilty...keep goin keep goin and prove that you are innocent.....

6 ( +6 / -0 )

If Japan blocks this news then Carlos Ghosn will have proved his point , big time!

8 ( +8 / -0 )

And Saikawa gets off Scott free!

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Watching jtv and they are have a similar box that was used and it just looks pathetic how these children put the point across with diagrams and fluff.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Many Japanese will spend a very bad day tomorrow up to 10.00pm local time.

For the rest of the world, fireworks.

Go Ghosn, go

8 ( +10 / -2 )

I cant imagine a J-tv station showing this live, they wouldn't have the guts! Would LOVE to be proved wrong on this one!!!

9 ( +10 / -1 )

I hope he doesn't get suicided.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

humiliated even....

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Wonder where we can see this live, TV or internet?? I am going to enjoy this, japan is humilated deservedly.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

Carps hitting the fan

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Awesome! Let's hope he has evidence against them too. There's nothing i would love to see more than to see the lid blown off this corrupt little country's injustice system.

7 ( +9 / -2 )

He'll shed some light on the corruption in Japan? It won't matter if the light is a huge spotlight, because Japan Gov/Inc have a well-rehearsed song and dance they do in such a spotlight. Performances every week. Bring the kids.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Pls have the list published as soon as 8th Jan 2020. The world must know.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Ad here comes the boom

Name whoever you wish GONE!! What about ABE!

Without perfect proof, don't even expect to earn another fortune through your Netflix movie.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

Must-watch TV. Japan hates having its dirty linen washed in public.

10 ( +10 / -0 )

juicy juicy juicy, let them have it Carlos!!!!

11 ( +11 / -0 )

Will Ghosn's press conference be televised life on NHK Wednesday at 10pm?

NHK? Checked the TV scheduling and so far nothing. Likely a bit on Hodo Station (Asahi), since that starts around 10. But live? Not holding my breath.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

As people have said. His evidence is going to be mostly speculation and it won't mean crap all coming from a fugitive. He can beat the drum all he wants, but in the eyes of the world he is the one in the wrong here. Regardless of what individuals think of this case and what led up to this point. No country is going to support the flagrant disrespect of a countries justice system by an individual. Even the people of Lebanon aren't huge fans of his coming back. France? Prosecutors there want him for the same charges.

-10 ( +5 / -15 )

Will Ghosn's press conference be televised life on NHK Wednesday at 10pm? Perhaps somewhere on YouTube? Anyone know?

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Ghosn did the correct thing by removing himself from Japan’s jurisdiction.

7 ( +13 / -6 )

Sweet, can't wait!

4 ( +6 / -2 )

The Return of the Pink Panther

3 ( +3 / -0 )

I am also hoping Ghosn can shed some light on what REALLY happened at the meeting on December 20th between the President of Lebanon and Keisuke Suzuki, the Japan Minister of Foreign Affairs (not the foreign minister). Suzuki is a 40-something acolyte of Aso and Abe. Good chance he was giving the message to the Lebanese President that at least Abe and the LDP wanted to wash their hands of Ghosn (not good for business with 2020 and Abe needing to identify a successor). Just leave the back door open for the holidays....Let the idiots at MOJ and the Prosecutors office blather on and on as part of the kabuki play-- Abe has more important things to deal with in his mind that having Ghosn and the bad publicity for Japan muddying things up for him and the LDP. Well, this will be fun.....

11 ( +15 / -4 )

I'm not getting my hopes up, even though he might have evidence, Japanese TV will spin it like he is the devil. But im interested who he will name. Saikawa at least and some in the government?

There are some b*tts clenching up in Kasumigaseki right now.

10 ( +15 / -5 )

Japan is like no other nation when it comes to changing something because of one incident.

It takes a case of abuse to pass a law.

It takes Ghosn escaping...

After a whole family dies...a better drunk driving rule.

15 ( +17 / -2 )

he has "actual evidence" and documents that will prove there was a plot to "take him out" in response to his plan to merge Nissan with its alliance partner Renault SA, the automaker's largest shareholder

Bunch of hogwash if you ask me.

He was in a detention center most of the time and had no contact with the outside.

The documents will need to be after he was detained or it will just be his personal speculations.

> Meanwhile, Japan's transport minister said Tuesday large luggage carried by private jet passengers will undergo mandatory inspections both on arrival and before departure.

It’s too late...

9 ( +13 / -4 )

Well, just have to wait an see who he will name! Going to be an interesting press conference!

> Warming up the pop-corn machine!

Go, Gohsn! Get the popcorn ready for the press conference.

And the beer!! This is going to be awesome! I have a feeling he's got enough to put a real dent into this corrupt system. And I bet he's not only going to talk about all the corporate greed, but also his time in incarceration, the conditions of his bail and everything else. And THAT will really be egg in the face of the Japanese system.

One thing is for sure. This story is going to get alot more interesting.

17 ( +22 / -5 )

I can say with certainty that these officials will become instant celebrities. They'll be on all the talk shows.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

hope he will get fair press conferences as opposed to the biased garbage FCCJ produces

5 ( +12 / -7 )

I can bet this would change absolutely nothing.

-3 ( +6 / -9 )

You could have avoided all of that trouble if you had just handed over those fat brown envelopes they hinted at

9 ( +14 / -5 )

By the way, who or how many mean hearted person is Nissan trying to protect ???. It is time, to clean house in Nissan.

8 ( +17 / -9 )

Go, Gohsn! Get the popcorn ready for the press conference.

12 ( +18 / -6 )

Oh I bet 'somebody' wishes they could rearrest Ghosn to once again shut him up...

29 ( +32 / -3 )

could be, but look at how the J media and gov spokespeople are pre empting the strike with attacks on Ghosn everyday

22 ( +26 / -4 )

Well, just have to wait an see who he will name! Going to be an interesting press conference!

Warming up the pop-corn machine!
