What a lowlife! What was he expecting to find in a 16 year old girl's bag???
slumdog
What is that supposed to mean?

Hope the girl fully recovers, both mentally and physically, soon. Needless to say I hope the coward who committed this act is caught, but based on the police description quoted here it doesn't sound promising.

Bag snatcher? More like slasher. Perhaps even attempted murderer. He cut this poor girl up. The fact that he took her bag is completely secondary. There is a violent and possibly murderous individual loose in Takamatsu. Never mind the bag.

What makes you think there is more to this story? What are the rest of us missig that you seem to have picked up on?

Sensai258. Yeah, go on, blame the victim

Not only that, this girl will be scarred for life physically and mentally. I hope they catch this idiot pronto.

Yes, so you keep suggesting. Well? Have at it and let us all in on the secret.

A question for anyone who believes that Japan's relative safety is a myth: Would you, as a girl, rather walk alone through Tokyo at two in the morning, or through (to use a couple of cities I know well) Manchester or Lima?
I know which I'd choose.

Weirdo #1782 of the season. These chickeshit attacks seem far to frequent for my liking. Typical modus operandi is always, always, someone attacking a perceived "weaker" individual, such as girls, mothers with baby strollers or oldies.

Hopefully this man will be caught before he harms someone else, and gets help to stop committing these violent acts. Be careful out there!

I hope there were some camera's nearby, 20's and black jacket doesn't really narrow it down.

I told you so! Go read the updated story.

Just me or are such attacks becoming far too common here?? I am now avoiding strange looking men walking on platforms and sidewalks these days.

Who writes these headlines? Slashing is the not same thing as stabbing, I have a feeling that if she was stabbed in the neck instead of being slashed on the neck her wounds would be a lot more serious.

What scum

He is probably means that slashing school girls with knives and stealing their belongings is an unusual thing to do and sounds more like a stalking case than a robbery.

SillyGirl, perhaps it's because it's boring. You constantly say "safety Japan", something I only ever hear or see from a handful of posters on this site.
Maybe it's for inaccuracy. If you look at stats over the past decades, you'll see that crime isn't on the rise. If you're reading things like this more often, it's probably because you weren't reading a lot of news in the 1960s, 70's, 80s.
You'll also see that Japan is a relatively low crime country. (No one is claiming absolute safety. Citation please, if you'd like to argue that.)

His motive may well have been quite different. Stealing the bag might have just been to confuse the cops and get them to look extra hard for real bag snatchers.

What a scum bag!! and wow! 20 in Japan is actually an ADULT, so the scum bag looks likes he is in his 20s!! Great! Lock this scum bag up ASAP!!
sillygirl
seems like we are reading more and more of this kind of thing in "safety japan."
sillygirl
why am i always getting thumbs down (every other day almost) when i point out the myth of safety japan????

He stabbed a 16 year old girl to steal her bag? Seriously? How much cash would a young Guelph have in her bag? Maybe 3 or 4 thousand yen? There are some real low-life and cowardly crims in Japan.
sensei258
Who's blaming the victim? I made a simple statement, and you took the ball and ran with it. There's more to this story.
sensei258
I wonder how much of the real story we're not hearing.
