With that message in the same stilted English, North Korea looking more and more likely now. In retaliation for the huge damage already done to Sony's sales, they should probably release the movie with little hesitation now.

If the movie is released, the hackers promise to turn the East Sea into a sea of data.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

I doubt it will be shown in Japan. One specific threat and the theaters will pull it from the schedule.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Ha... Kim Yong Un`s hacker squad has been busy!

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Talk about massive free promotion for this movie.

hope they release it. wanted to see a replica of an obnoxious fatso

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Yep, that would be nk as the hackers.

Ha ha, Sony probably cursing Seth Rogen et al for this.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

Do not loose your nerve Sony show the movie, do not give into this poorly attempted threat.

I don't know. All sounds too easy for it to be NK. Might just be a bunch of a-hole s***-stirrers messing around. If NK did it, but were trying to make it not look like they did, I'm pretty sure they'd do it perfect and not use obviously bad English in statements.

I'm not saying it's not NK, but I think we need more proof before we blame them.

Logic like that could implicate some entity in these fair isles too, surely?

Amazing that a country that still uses pirated copies of Windows XP to launch satellites is able to pull this off. It says more about Sony sucking at their jobs than the Norks being particularly good hackers.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Hope the "assassination plot " becomes real.

Who else cares whether or not the movie get's released? Anything that happens in that country doesn't happen it seems without the government knowing about it, and either sanctioning it, or by plausible deniability.

Dirks dirka jihad Mohammad when you are a joke then people will joke about you? Kim your a joke!

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Yeah, no, doesn't sound like NK had anything to do with this whatsoever. Mind you, it probably didn't come OUT of NK -- just die-hard fans (for some insane reason) of the nation.

Typical korean nuttiness to think no one will realise who hacked sony, and then turn around and make threats about release of a movie about its illustrious leader, too much coincidence .

2 ( +3 / -1 )

I certainly wasn't planning to see this movie, but now I think I will. (No high hopes though.)

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Are they really so busy hacking Sony that they can't be bothered to write their demands in Markdown?

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Like many people here wrote, this is huge promotion for This Sony movie. Walmart have to make room for this movie in its shelves if releases. It has been selling Dragon movies and space movies beside pld superman, batman and wonder woman but this will sell more than Gozilla. I wonswe which channel of Sony Picture Television will have this movie televised now that this news was released. Some old TV series like I love Jeannie Sony televise 4 times (30 MINUTES EACH) so there is no problem to televise this show.

Sony, or any media outlet should never ever let this kind of blackmail stop them from releasing this or any other film.

Next people will get killed for cartoons... oh wait...

"I don't want to live on this planet anymore."

Probie: I'm not saying it's not NK, but I think we need more proof before we blame them.

More technically-inclined news sources include details such as the virus was built on machines running the Korean language and the virus was launched from same (hijacked?) command-and-control server in Bolivia that the 'Dark Seoul' series was launched from in 2013.

The one could be false flag but the other maybe not.

I think the next movie Sony should do should have the Pudgy Un laying a wreath at Yasukuni in atonement for being more brutal to his own people than the Japanese ever were. Then every baby in NK ends up being named Kim Jong Un. Then comes the UN firing squad for the Pudgy Un. My only question is, is this comedy, satire, or a hopeful prediction of the future?

Sony should definitely release this movie just to spite these fools. I know I plan to watch it and buy it on Blu ray when it comes out. They achieved the opposite of what they were trying to accomplish...

I wonder if they are real hacker or not. This group does not seem they hacked. They want to stop movie release, sound they have nothing to do with hacking as they are based in Boston. SONY Pictures E is in Culver City CA. But this kind of demand created more people recognize such movie. Now more peo;e will buy in Walmart. Comedy fans will not miss this one. More income to SONY Picture E and Walmart Beside any DVD movie selling business. Are they trying to help SONY in Japan benefit from SONY PE sales in USA?

I think people will go see the movie because it's funny and anybody that has seen the previews and knows the two actors will know this to be true. Some hacker attempt is not a good enough reason for ME to go see this movie, but maybe it is for someone like you since this is your theory. Also if the hackers came from Boston, Massachusetts like you say, then the two are most likely unrelated. And anybody with a TV or internet connection probably would have already seen the preview. Nice conspiracy theory though... Proof would be nicer...

toshiko: I wonder if they are real hacker or not. ... But this kind of demand created more people recognize such movie.

I don't think Sony would have considered it worth the trade, computers blocked, hard drives wiped, confidential company details leaked en masse vs. a film that was going to do bad or good anyway. Leaks including that Rogen got paid $8.4M out of the $44M movie budget. Rogen's last movie "Neighbors" from Universal Pictures in spring 2014 had $268M on a $18M budget. So I don't really think Sony had to go to that trouble to boost box office receipts of "The Interview". Not even considering all the fingerprints North Korean were supposed to have left on the hacking effort, tying it to previous major hacks vs. South Korean companies a year or so ago.

optikool: I think people will go see the movie because it's funny and anybody that has seen the previews and knows the two actors will know this to be true.

Hope it isn't one of those movies that had all the funny bits in the previews. Thinking specifically of "Extract", here.

@turbo: I am not a commedy fun, I prefer Anime. So my guess on this movie is only my guess. it will not be successful.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Better, release the movie free to download.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

@Tumbiedry: It takes about 2 hours to televise a movie in USA. If Sony Pictures televise it in its Antenna TV Channel, instead of 4 half hours I Dream of Jeannies a day some day or one of weekends, anyone can copy this movie. Beside that, there are many many channels that use SONY services that is almost monopoly in USA. Used to be SONY Electronics in New Jersey but now SONY in Calif, It even has SONY Studio in Las Vegas, not for gambling but hair dyed Pat and Vanna showing like they were many decades ago. Copy free, As long as you don't sell, copying is not illegal in USA. CDPlayers will let you copy. If you don;y like the movie, use same CD tyo copy something else.
