They will dissolve like Philip Morris! Change the name; all fixed!

They quit their campaign because:

Team Poison are now going to show them what real hacking is, and expose everything they can about LulzSec and their families. It's a war of hackers, and only the most intelligent will win = not LulzSec.

Hackers who hack "for fun" then take their ill-gotten gains, otherwise known as private information (names, addresses, credit cards, passwords) and disseminate it across the Internet are juvenile asshats in desperate need of a prolonged ass-beating.

Anyone who truly believes these purile children who make up Lulz Security were doing what they did as some sort of noble "rage against the machine," political, corporate, or otherwise, is woefully naive, a point illustrated clearly at any number of "hacker" sites reporting on the internal meltdown of this little band of jerks.

I hope the authorities in every jurisdiction these kids screwed around in pursue them relentlessly until they've put every last one of them in jail for the damage they've caused.

The real money-maker in the world now is "Data/Information" on peoples shopping habits, etc. And hackers obtain it >and than sell it it has become an underground Industry. Plenty of companies that will pay top-dollars for that info and have done so in the past.

You seem to misunderstand what is going on here, the activities of Lulz Security have no connection to corporate espionage or hacking for profit.

They are going to quit a racket that made them Millions.

It didn't make them any money, they did it for fun.

What kind of dystopian society do we live in where hackers rat each other out? :(

This happens too the day another hackers group, called the A-Team, released a lot of information on all the LulzSec hackers. Name, address, date of birth, facebook page... all the stuff, as well as logs of various servers. You can check pastebin. http://pastebin.com/iVujX4TR I guess they'll all get arrested soon. They even finish their post with this: "If any law enforcment agency would like all the raw logs of everything please feel free to email THE A-TEAM!"

Where on Earth did you get the idea that they made any money at all, let alone 'millions'?

Thats a good question. The more likely reason they're quitting, is the publicity focused on them, has made them the target of every law enforcement organization. Everyone is targeting them, and its really only a matter of time til they're caught. Even a single slip-up could bring them down, as the kid in England found out.

This makes about as much sense as Gaddafi's refusal to step down from a position he claims he has never held.

Could just be that they have a conscience......
