I'd love to see more prison terms for corrupt executives but it's a rare sight, I assume she just wasn't connected to the right people. Love how the judge saw right through her "not personally benefitting" after trying to hide away her personal remuneration. Might be a sign of things to come with Harunohi.

So she waits 6 years to recover her treasure somewhere ?

So, 5,440,000 divided by 6 equals 906,666.6. a year for serving time.
She is making 75,555,55 yen per month. Assuming she has pocketed the money.
Seems a bit harsh for a woman who was trying desperately to keep her business afloat. If you read the Japanese news article on this case. She was not trying to fraud the banks for personal gain. She was trying to keep the doors open hoping for a reprieve. I think the punishment is to hard and very harsh.
I think her thoughts at this point are, I am keeping what I can. Especially after being sentenced six years.
Like a "spit in the face." tactic.

You get less for murder in Japan. She must not have greased the right palms, because companies get away with FAR more than this daily and at worst have to apologize.

Toshiba, Olympus, and other blue-chip J-companies come to mind straightaway, no hard-time punishments for their massive frauds.

The harsh sentence is because she stole from banks, not from people.
It's like that in the US too. Martin Skrelli was convicted for defrauding investors, not for ripping off sick people.

How does a company with that many sales go bankrupt? She is hiding so much money.

Why are there still travel agencies? Its like paying to send a telegram when you can send a free email.

Steal from the bankers, anywhere in the world, and be prepared to pay the price.

Exactly. But in reverse, the bankers are given a stern lecture, forbidden to fly their private jets for 24 hours, and after a brief timeout, are rewarded by being named top advisors to our nation's leaders.
