Taxpayer money lavished for prosecutorial manpower and incarceration because a celebrity "touched" a substance he shouldn't have, harming no one but possibly himself.
Meanwhile, valuable stimulus money in a crisis is being siphoned off to cronies of Abe and Aso and Dentsu for GoTo and Abenomask boondoggles.
Which would have done the Japanese public more good to prosecute?

People here are appalled but should realize how lucky his sentence is as a repeat offender. A regular joe would be seeing harder times.

Another black eye for government and its witch doctors who refuse to follow the science of addiction and instead "rehabilitate" with prison instead of patient care. Dark Ages, indeed!

Either he's a lost cause or he's not getting the help he needs.

^^^ only because the locals can be so fastidious about following the law.

What a silly appeal for a lighter sentence. He should get no sentence at all and the meddling, power trippers wasting his time should serve his sentence in his place! Leave the man alone!

He's been banned from Japanese TV for 20 years now. Do keep up.

In Japan, you really have to make an effort to become addicted to anything besides tobacco and alcohol.
Tashiro proved he was up to the task. Good job!

Japan has nowhere near the drug problems of western countries. Maybe this is part of the reason?

""Masashi Tashiro asking for a lighter sentence over use and possession of illegal drugs.""
Just think of all the people with their kids who watch your shows Mr. Tashiro , how dare you to even consider using drugs again, lucky living in Japan, in other nations will be handed the death penalty.

Why do drug addicts think that everyone should take care of them over a choice they made.
I just don't understand it, the rest of us go on with our daily routines but then we are being asked to care and carry the load of other who are more privileged and in many cases are USELESS to society.

^^^ thanks for making my point

other countries have to legalize weed otherwise everyone would be a criminal.
Japan? It’s a non-issue.
