Student arrested after threatening undercover policewoman with box cutter

A second year public high school student was arrested in Edogawa Ward on Jan 6, accused of assault and making threats after he put a box cutter to the back of an undercover policewoman, police said Tuesday.

The 17-year-old student and resident of Edogawa Ward is accused of putting the cutter to the plain-clothed female officer’s back and telling her to be quiet if she didn’t want to die, during the incident which happened about 11:30 p.m. Another officer in the vicinity saw what was happening and apprehended the boy. Police said the boy has admitted to the allegations and told them he intended to take her to the nearby park and sexually assault her.

Police also said three women had been assaulted in the area in late December and early January, and had sent undercover officers to patrol the area. Police conducted a DNA test on the boy and found his DNA matched that of evidence collected from a woman assaulted in the nearby park on Dec 30, and will refer him to prosecutors on a charge of rape.

Another day, another sicko.

Good job. Now it is up to the courts to put this chap out of circulation for a long time.

Good job! Alas, he is a "youth" and will therefore get away with a slap on the wrist.

This matter shouldn't be taken lightly..he's a youth and therefore will get away...a NO NO...please!

I am sure somebody will suss out a way to criticize the Japanese police anyway. Maybe they expected an arrest immediately after the first assault?

Good to see that they are basing the charges on forensic evidence, and not just a confession. Also good to see that the police were proactive in having undercover decoys in play.

17 y/o? Gotta check this kid's circle fiends (friends) and his family cos I doubt if this is only him.

likeitis,

I am sure somebody will suss out a way to criticize the Japanese police anyway.

Ain't that the truth.

This sounds like a perfect piece of policework, hats off to the undercover female officer for putting herself on the line!! She deserves a commendation.

Good to have this scumbag off the streets...would have been nice if someone slit his throat with the boxcutter, though!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

A fairly good piece of police work. For this guy Japanese police needed to institute the arrest procedures of the Oakland Transit police.

archiebald - A commendation??? For a woman??? In Japan??? Oh, you do jest. Am assuming credit will be taken by the guy in charge of the whole investigation.

good thing this policewoman had a policeMAN nearby to help her out

Fool

I wanna hear how she disarmed and arrested him, or if just a stern look and a badge flashing was enough.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I take that back, another officer saw it. At least they worked well together.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Lucky the other officer was paying attention.

last time I checked this was like 10 years in a US prison, but.............

DNA as in semen?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Meanmutha probably 10 years suspended

0 ( +0 / -0 )

This was not luck, but a good decoy op by a covert team of plain clothes officers that set a trap for the perp, in an area where he was known to frequent. As for DNA, they probably matched mouth swabs with semen evidence he had previously left with his other victims.

I so wished at 17 when I was still a student in High School I could be out thill 11:30. But at last my mom would have give me a swift kick to the hinny for bein out so late on Tuesday a school night. Glad they caught him and hope he goes away for a long time.

what is with these kids? where are the parents. the parents are sorely lacking in "parenting skills."

0 ( +0 / -0 )

A terrible crime, though he should be commended on having an aptly named weapon.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Hope this will teach the other perps to think twice before commiting such crimes.

I’m sure that a good investigation could provide evidence to put this tad behind the bars. Don't take any plea deals he should be locked up for a while. Just don't put female guard around him. He does also need a good shrinks. Again please male shrink not female.

nice sting!

Poor dude managed to find the one undercover officer in the entire country.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

But, he's a minor. So, he will blame his parents for whatever, and get a suspended sentence.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Middle age policewoman, i guess.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Good job by the cops.

He was slowly building a career, too bad for him the Cops had to cut it short.

Where are all the people from the other story about the JHS girls assulting other kids? Where is the defense of this rapist? "All he needs is a loving and supporting environment, not punishment" Blah. Blah. Blah. Put this guy in a cell with the two chicks and see who comes out on top and then charge them. Simple Battle Royal trick. Love the hypocrisy of it all though. Girls assulting people... no problem, it's a social issue. Boy doing it... he's a sicko pervert and should be decapitated. I'm for the latter myself, for the whole lot of them.

Ah, but he is 17, so its all ok. Right? I mean its not like he murdered someone, then of course he would have to serve his 2 or so years in jail. But a couple measly rapes. Suspended sentence right. Maybe a small fine, and a firm slap on the wrist telling him he was a bad boy.

Its great when people are caught in the act of doing crime. I always lolz when perps are trying to commit something and the Law is watching xD.

Actually, there are hundreds of plain clothes officers in Tokyo - until you screw up, you won't know.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

its easy, just don't shave for a couple of days and go out wearing oversized hiphop apparel, and you will know exactly how many plain clothes cops are patrolling near the train stations. The funny part is they do this only between 9-5. Having a darker skin colour helps a lot too

I had no idea that Japan had plain clothed police officers. Unless they are specifically trying to crack a case, Ive always felt plain clothed officers and police in regular cars was wrong because this confuses people and can put women in jeopardy if some guy gets a fake badge or siren in his car and tries to take advantage of her. I also know a beautiful young woman who was driving home like 3AM and a plain police car followed her (this was in another country). She was driving the speed limit but he pulled her over and asked her to get out of the car. She just sensed that he was up to something no good and could mask himself behind his regular car so she pulled out her mobile phone and said she was calling her dad in the area (it was a lie). He then let her go. She then knew he was really a bad guy. I think disguising police is wrong and deceptive. We cant impersonate as police so why should they impersonate as regular people unless there is a very specific case they are working on? Nonetheless, I`m glad this boy was caught. He sounds VERY dangerous.

Proactive policing backedup up by sensible foresnsics (DNA testing)?

Someone pinch me.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I'm sure he only did this because he was jealous of richer kids and was upset about his home life. Poor little lad. Instead of locking him up we need to give him a hug and try to understand him. SARCASM OFF

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Good job by the police. But he is not going to serve any real time. They will put him in the hospital and when he turns 20 clean record and he can do what ever he wants. The system needs to be fixed.

Arrested January 6th. This article is dated January 21st. Less than 15 days, including Saturday and Sundays, to DNA test and match? It seems very, very, quick to me. Anyone know how long it should, normally, take? And is it done locally in Japan?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

When I first read the story, I was lead to believe that a off-duty police woman just happened to be a victim and that another police officer just happened to see what was going on. Why didn't they just write that it was an undercover sting operation? It almost all seemed to occur by happenstance at first.
