Police in Tokyo's Ota Ward said Saturday that a 75-year-old hospital director and his 30-year-old wife were found dead of shotgun wounds at their home on Friday, in what may have been a murder-suicide.
Police identified the couple as Yoshitaka Matsumoto and his wife Ayano. TBS reported that police received a call from Matsumoto's 36-year-old daughter on Friday morning, saying he had not come to work at Yokohama Tohokai Hospital and that she could not reach him. At around 1 p.m., police went to their home in Denenchofu and found Matsumoto and his wife dead lying face up in the 2nd floor bedroom. Matsumoto was found on the bed still holding a shotgun.
Police said Ayano had shotgun wounds in her chest and stomach, while her husband had been shot in the head.
Police said they believe Matsumoto killed his wife, and then himself, but have so far given no possible motive.© Japan Today
