Hostess bar worker stabbed to death outside Saitama workplace

A woman was fatally stabbed Monday morning outside a hostess bar in Fujimino, Saitama Prefecture. According to police, an emergency call was made by one of the woman's coworkers, who told the operator that one of the bar's employees had been stabbed by a customer. Emergency services arrived and found the woman lying on the road outside the establishment. The victim was rushed to hospital where she was treated for around two hours before dying.

Police said in a statement to media that the 51-year-old victim was an employee of a "snack" hostess bar, a type often owned and staffed by older women. It is believed that the woman had been talking to a male customer in the bar with whom she later went outside. When she failed to return, one of the victim's coworkers left the bar to look for her, at which point police say she discovered the victim lying on the road, bleeding from stab wounds.

The suspect and murder weapon have not yet been found, police said.

Didn't want to pay the bill I guess.

No OsakaT - he had already gone outside with her, meaning his bill would have already been paid. He obviously had some gripe or was rejected.

Doesn't surprise me that it's Saitama.

bookowls, don't hate on Saitama. I lived in Fujimino and found it a lovely town.

Crazy people aren't immune to area codes.

hopefully the guy's a regular there and the cops can find him quickly.

So many reasons why this could have happened its really no use speculating.

Could have been anything.

Interesting: this murder occurred in a town that's NOT served by the Takasaki line. May be it's worth to pay a visit.

And yes, Saitama stabbing cases are back on the news. I wonder how many similar cases occurred over there during the last 10 years.

We must not forget though that, statistically speaking, it is still much safer than many areas around the world.

Saitama is not all that bad but this is really bad! Rip bar lady

Very sad to go this way and at 51 years old :( times are really tough and feel for women in general having to work in such types of establishments. For a man to stab and murder a woman like that, a very cowardly act and it's very unfortunate but these types of incidents are on the rise. May the lady rest in peace.

A 65 year old man has been arrested for the murder.

Hostess bars are in a class all their own. And there is worse out there.

"a "snack" hostess bar"

I hear the snacks are really good in those places.

I know it's no use speculating, but is it safe to say this was most likely premeditated? Why else would the guy go to a snack bar with a concealed knife? Protection?

I agree with tahoochi.

Dangerous job, bar worker. They have to lead on the customers, yet have to cut them off at some point. It's a fool's game.

So, this guy carried a knife before he went into the establishment. Maybe the bar woman seduced him out of money or whatnot. He got mad and hurt her.

I agree with mitoguitarman the women lure the customer to much, promising a date or some sexual act outside the establishment. I bet the woman wished she worked at McD`s now.

This is why I don't like jobs that deal directly with the public (anybody under the sun).
