A suitcase containing human body parts was found in a vacant lot at a disused golf course in Nikko, Tochigi Prefecture, on Wednesday.
According to police, a nearby resident called police at around 10:50 a.m. and said there was a suitcase on the ground beneath a bridge near the 14th hole, Sankei Shimbun reported. Police opened the suitcase and found a plastic bag containing a human torso with no head or arms. Police said other body parts were found in a sports bag nearby.
The golf course hasn't been in use since 2015.

That's exactly what I would do if I'd ever discover a freakin suitcase under a bridge...
nonu6976
so the guy saw a suitcase under a bridge and decided it was worthy of calling the police?

This sounds like an organized crime killing. Either that, or someone really didn't want the victim to be easily identified though if they chucked the other body parts nearby, they weren't making it too hard for the police to put together the pieces.

Keep in mind that a lot of the news articles on this site are condensed so most likely there was probably more to it such as it probably emitted a foul odor or they could have possibly opened it first.
Otherwise it probably would have gone unreported.
Ubesh
I wonder how long it was there?

According to Japanese news sources, the head and arms were also found, but the legs are still out there.....
The man is thought to have been killed over 3 months ago.

i think it'd leave a permanent image in your head....not used to seeing dead, decaying body parts, especially 3 months old.
if they wanted the body never to be found, a few bricks in the suitcase and dump it in a nearby lake would be better. sounds like they wanted this to be found to send a message, perhaps mexican cartel style...

Why is this happening???.

Perhaps it’s amongst the other ‘parts’ in the ‘nearby sports bag @Reckless 9:18pm:
“Police said other body parts were found in a sports bag nearby.” but don’t clarify exactly ‘what’ parts.snowymountainhell

It’s funny here, whenever there is an murder case people immediately credit it the yakuza. Like the average Japan Today below the line commentator knows all about Japanese organised crime......
In this story’s case, there are plenty of local, Everyman nutters who would dismember a body in this way.

Is this really NEW WORTHY!?

This ‘finder’ @nonu6976 5:15pm probably recalled Spring 2021’s similar grisly suitcase recovery. Volunteers ‘opened’ their suitcase. The resulting autopsy provided the body of a ‘cold case’ from years back and ‘sealed’ the verdict of three already convicted of the same murder. Yes, a murder conviction in Japan, previously without a body:
