Husband arrested after 79-year-old wife found dead in mountains

A 70-year-old man who had been missing since last October has been arrested over the death of his 79-year-old wife whose body was found in the mountains of Yoshinogari, Saga Prefecture, on Jan 20.

According to police, Katsukichi Okada has been charged with abandoning the body of his wife Sachiko Okada, who is from Fukuoka City, in Yoshinogari, Fuji TV reported.

An autopsy revealed that Okada had been strangled to death about five days before her body was found.

In October last year, four days after she filed a missing persons report on her husband, Okada herself went missing, police said, adding they are trying to find out where they have been for the past few months.

The victim's husband was found driving alone in Otake, Hiroshima Prefecture, at around noon on Tuesday.

Police said Wednesday he has admitted to dumping his wife's body and has also made vague statements about killing her.

The wife filed a missing persons report for her husband, and she's the one who ends up dead! I wouldn't have seen that coming!

He admitted to killing her, but was only charged with abandoning her body?

@badman Happens all the time in Japan. Why come to terms with the horror of murder when "abandonment of the body" will suffice?

how many times do we have to go over this abandonment of the body is only the first charge until they've got enough evidence to charge them with murder
