The remains of a newborn girl have been found in a coin locker in Osaka, police said Friday.
According to police, the remains were found inside a bag in the locker at a storage facility near Juso Station in Nishiyodogawa Ward at around 2:40 p.m. Thursday, Kyodo News reported.
The facility has lockers which can be used for long periods of time. An employee of the facility operator found the remains after checking the lockers.
The company said the locker had been in use since early February.

I'm sorry little one, I hope you rest in peace and the disturbed person who did this to you is apprehended and given the help she needs.

I don't think they know, but is just working on the balance of probabilities.

There is a way to put an end to these daily newborn killings. Don’t make it so hard for women to have abortions.

"The remains of a newborn girl have been found......."
It's really sad that this happens so often in Japan. Coin lockers, dumpsters, public toilets, parks, apartment block garbage areas, stashed in wardrobes. The list of places babies are regularly dumped is extensive.

Distressed parents . . . unable to take care of a child . . . should be bringing an infant to a maternity hospital,
. . . also adoption agencies for newborns, e.g. https://www.rainbowkids.com/international-adoption/country-programs/japan

There are hospitals with baby baskets where you can leave a baby anonymously with no questions, and the baby will be taken care of. These should be better publicized.

Newborn babies come from women, and under normal circumstances don’t leave the vicinity of the mother for an extended period of time. Unless a recently pregnant woman reported her baby stolen back in February (which I personally don’t recall), we can assume the culprit was the mother herself.

There is one baby hatch in Japan and it takes around 200 babies every year.

I can never understand why women choose to keep the baby for the pregnancy term (in this case probably in secret), but do this type of rubbish upon birth. There are places you can take the baby and leave them there without any questions asked (baby hatches....though far and sparce, fire stations, hospitals, children's clinics, foster facilities, and maybe even the belly of the beast : the police station). Instead of making stupid beer commercials as many as they do, they should make lots more ads on what to do if you have a baby but not ready to have a baby or don't want a baby so people would know where to go and what to do in these cases thus giving a child a chance at life!
