Police in Tokyo have arrested a 35-year-old self-professed YouTuber whose address and occupation are unknown, on suspicion of punching a 27-year-old woman while filming a video.
According to police, the incident occurred early in the morning of May 4. Sankei Shimbun reported that Seiji Ohara allegedly punched the woman on the side of her head at a bar in Shinjuku’s Kabukicho district. The victim did not suffer any serious injuries, police said.
Police said Ihara has admitted to the charge and quoted him as saying, “I was drunk and can’t recall anything. But if I did do it, I am sorry.”
Ohara told police he was filming a video of himself drinking liquor with a high alcohol content when he became intoxicated and rowdy. The recording was shot in a bar that allows video streaming.
Ohara has been posting videos on the video-sharing website YouTube under the name “Shinyacho.”

Ah... the good old “kind remember” excuse...
Yubaru
IF, dude you caught yourself on tape doing it, then you, like the idiot drunk you are, posted the evidence online.
It's pretty obvious that the lights do not shine too brightly with this dude!
Dango bong
he is a youtuber haha (unemployed drunk)

Saw this video, it was grainy but it was hardly a punch. Just drunken horsing around, yes he's an idiot, but don't think it qualifies as assault

I have seen this excuse been used quite a lot. Even by some police officers who got themselves into some trouble. I always wonder, If I used that excuse, how would that work out for me?
Michael Jackson
It's an assault if he touched her, it doesn't matter how hard
Speed
Guaranteed to get a lot of "hits".
papigiulio
Not half wrong. I think you are referring to "Sexual Assault". But yeah I saw the video, just another douchebag youtuber.
Michael Jackson
You're right. I spoke too quickly. Just the threat of violence is an assault. When you hit them it's assault and battery.
oldman_13
Another social vlogger.
A scourge upon society no matter what country.
BieberHole69
Same old excuse. He will get off eith no punishment. Old Japanese men always look out for each other. Crime doesnt matter. That excuse is used too much.

Don't be an enabler...what if he had killed someone while "horsing around"

Oh come on! Some people really need to be wrapped in cotton wool. It's been said above that it was hardly a punch. I don't even see how this is news worthy.

YouTube should be informed first and foremost and asked to ban the man, since his vlogging is the direct cause of this. Second, he should be charged with assault and given the maximum charges.

You tube blogging is a "thing", and it is a good thing, breaking the stranglehold the major media conglomerates have on news and visual entertainment.

Filming yourself drinking "a strong alcoholic drink" is a good thing? That breaks the media conglomerates "stranglehold" on the news?
Aaron Brummett
All great stories begin with "alcohol"!
I hope that he gets help!
I once took the stage and started singing "Roxette songs" while I was drunk.
It is also on Youtube, somewhere. I also offered up a few racial/homophobic slurs on my way out of the bar.
I don't remember one darn thing about it. But I can carry a tune pretty well!
The youtube title is something like "flaming (R) plays guitar hero and slaps a bum"!
taj
I don't think the media should be providing publicity by giving out this idiots YouTube handle.
hjnice
Just scum.
But the idiots who see videos like this are not really better.
