Regardless of the concept of ownership of the coral, plundering it for use in jewelry is just plain wrong :(

1) They are investigating whether it is being poached by Chinese fisherman. Proof / lack or proof will be revealed by this.

2) There aren't nearly 2 billion Chinese people, you're a mere 600 million people out.

3) 'Do they all poach coral from Kyushu?'. No, of course they don't, what a bizarre question to ask.

Damn those Chinese, next they will claim ownership of the sea....oh wait they did.

That's why they're launching the study? And, there was a massive coral poaching problem with the Chinese some years ago so, I wouldn't be surprised...

Because BertieWooster, national security is more important than coral from one POV.

So if the Chinese came so close to the coast without being detected by the coast guard...so close that they could grab some coral...well wouldn't coral be the last thing we need to be investigating at that point?

Chinese are also buying mammoth tusks, illegally, from Siberia.
