There really should have been ‘urging’ for better security after the last PM was assassinated.
tamanegi
Now it's a pipe bomb.

That fisherman has more guts than most of officers!
Is that mean more zaryu card check on the street?
Lorem ipsum
What a joke. So this government hasn't learned a thing from last year. Total morons, amateurs.
OssanAmerica
PM Kishida's call for better security is, albeit late, correct. However, watching the video of the PM's reaction staring at the smoking pipe bomb for seconds and just standing there until the SP pushes him away compels me to suggest that PM KIshida himself needs to improve his own 状況意識.

Maybe the security team should be watching the crowd rather than, literally, watching his back. And armed with more than briefcases.

Who is 24-year-old Ryuji Kimura from Hyogo region?
Because until the J public/media have any meaningful knowledge into the details of this person its barely half a story.
Was this so called device a pipe bomb, smoke canister, or a firework/banger?
OssanAmerica
Those brief cases are class NIJ IIIA+ Class kevlar plate bullet proof shields. They have no pockets to carry any documents,

Didn't last year's tragic events teach these people anything? Clearly not.

Ya’ THINK ?

Yesterday a smoke bomb, today a pipe bomb, tomorrow, what?
lunatic
The SP kicked the pipe bomb towards the crowd.

No he didn't. He hit it with his briefcase-shield in a direction where there was no crowd. Then quickly moved the PM out of the area.

The country is too safe. It is clear that the security forces are overwhelmed in the face of such attempted attacks.
Yrral
It was just gunpowder,it has no projective ,or it would of been worst

In other countries those protection usually sworn to protect at any cost, so they'll jump to it if necessary. However in Japan as long the VIP secure, crowd in those area somehow just doesn't matter.

Gunpower treason and plot, or simply a rebel without a clue?
Maybe a sad soul whose rabbit hutch existence, yearned for some excitement to break the monotony mundane existence?
Tellingly 24-year-old Ryuji Kimura head is at least partially the right way up, insisting on a lawyers presence.
Missing here is texture and colour, to 24-year-old Ryuji Kimura life,
Who is he?
He must have a life, a job, a reason to wake up in the morning.
Next to a Girlfriend,
His parents?
The media should be all over this.
Could 24-year-old Ryuji Kimura have carefully thought this though, to make sure his big day lasts more than fifteen minutes?

"At a time when high-ranking officials from all over the world are visiting... Japan as a whole needs to maximize its efforts to ensure security and safety,"
Sorry, Kishida, but Japan doesn't just need to do it for show when foreign dignitaries and media are watching and pointing out the similarities to what happened with Abe, but it needs to do it YESTERDAY for the sake of protecting everyone. What did you learn from Abe's assassination? Seriously. What? If you need to say every time Japan should improve security. But hey... hang on... isn't there a big meeting coming up in Hiroshima? Maybe there shouldn't be until change becomes more than lip-service talk about doing so.

Great job by the security team once again. They showed who's boss when they tackled that fisherman. Oh wait..
Mark
These are tough times and tougher measures may be needed to deal with the current situation. People are getting killed literally for NO REASON what so ever.
CaptDingleheimer
They DEFINITELY need better security. Like security guys who actually hit the GYM.
You see the video of the cops fumbling around tripping while they tried to carry him out? Holy crap. it took like four cops on one skinny guy and they STILL struggled, falling over and dropping him, stopping to take a break every 3 meters.
Don't they have a thing in their job descriptions that says "Must be able to lift 30kg"?
nandakandamanda
One of the fisherman was hit in the back by a fragment of exploding metal pipe. Everyone was lucky this time.
This Kimura is reported to be a quiet well-mannered fellow, from a typical 'good' family, but neighbours recall that when his father would rant and scream at him, he would simpy lower his head meekly and never spoke back.
Jonathan Prin
There may be thousands of Kimuras waiting for their turn.
Instead of more security/safety that can do nothing against lone wolves, take care more of young people instead of old people...my objective advice.
I do not condone in any way violence of course.

I couldn’t stop laughing at that video. If you put some clown or circus music to it, it’s that much more comical.
The perp was on his back. Each officer had a limb and was trying to lift him around.
For what?
None of them had hand-cuffs or plastic ties on them?
Just roll the perp on his stomach, hands behind his back and cuff him.
There were like 5-6 “men” trying to transport him. For what? No one was around the immediate area. And at least 3 of them fell down doing so.
Some of the most pathetic and comedic videos I’ve seen in a long time. And it wasn’t even a comedy!
Don’t get me started on the security teams that were all bunched up, NOT checking the crowd.
If it wasn’t for that fisherman, none of Kishida’s security would have been able to ID the person in question. They were the lucky ones that day.
Hercolobus
Not again. I still cannot believe Abe departed from us.

The government should try to understand why it's community would want to attack them, instead of just thinking of protection from attacks.
Maybe the government it's so great as they think.
Young people are frustrated in this country.
diego
perhaps the cause of Prime Minister Kishida's attack stemmed from the fact of raising taxes or from the fact that the government uses our tax money to help families who have children, and those who do not have children have to pay taxes for the children of other families! Or it derives from the fact that instead of helping families who have children, it would be better for them to help retired people who receive little money from the state! or that taxes increase and the cost of everything has increased in order to increase military forces, which is useless and leads to war!! perhaps this is why there was an assassination attempt on Prime Minister Kishida! so now i want to increase security so even more money from our taxes!
Aly Rustom
Get over it. Plenty of other fish in the sea.
Yup. They were useless.
Doubt it. It's Japan.
I would have recommended in the past that they only hire security who are ex military, BUT considering Yamagami, I'm not so sure.
I nominate the Benny Hill theme!!
YUP!
THIS!!!
