This comment is overtly racist. Why is it allowed under Japan Today guidelines on comments?

The Goshn trial may lead to other execs in other Japan based Companies feeling a bit worried.... likewise, the Auditors of those Companies for not questioning certain activities... which is troubling for investors.

If Carlos is guilty or not???.Things will be proven step by step. This case will prove to foreign brains, if Japan Inc is fair or not in inviting foreign brains to save their companies from bankruptcy to health ???. Who wants to work, to help back stabbing & nasty dishonest Japanese counterparts with only Japanese birth rights ???, certainly not me.

hold on so prosecutors can set the trial date while holding you in indefinite detention ( imprisonment ) at the same time.
Yes, that is exactly what prosecutors can do in Japan. Detention centers are known as Prosecutors Detention Centers. Isolation is the prosecutors (bureaucrats) key weapon.

That sadly right, unlike TEPCO case that had verdict this week. Even prosecutors that try to prosecute them for years but nothing is being leak to media. As if the case only come to light during trial not before or after. Unlike Ghosn case it's all over the news, over and over again, of course is being dominated only with information that can make him look guilty.

Ghosn, guilty until proven innocent!
many in Japan already believe Ghosn is guilty from all the leaked information from the prosectors office to the media while placing restrictions on Ghosn on who he can speak too. Sadly trial by media and guilty until proven innocent is a thing in Japan, unfortunately you dont stand a chance in this system unless you have a lot of money for the best lawyers like Ghosn. The saddest part of all this is it affect the average Japanese Taro the most

seriously can anybody tell me with a straight face that there is nothing wrong with this arrangement. The deck is heavily stacked in the prosecutors favour and some people wonder why the forced confession debate is even an issue.

Not worldwide, all the job cuts are abroad.

When the trial finally begins, whoever is chosen as the new Nissan head at the end of October will then be sitting alongside Ghosn in the dock representing the company because Nissan is facing the same charges of Financial Misconduct as he is (the deferred compensation). But the company is hardly going to deny any charges since it instigated the whole farce in the first place and will have to just go along with the prosecution's evidence. That's going to make it very hard for Ghosn's not guilty plea.

"Mr. Saikawa said he had received payments from Nissan well beyond his earnings — an admission that echoed the charges that led to Mr. Ghosn’s fall."
no one arrested him yet??? double standard.

After reading this paragraph I’m starting to believe in Khama. Gotta feel sorry for all those who are losing their jobs though.
Setting a trial commencement date nearly 18 months after the arrest of an innocent person who has been separated from his family due to ridiculously stringent bail terms is the real crime. Plus, the trial could drag out for another year. The Japanese justice system is a criminal organization committing crimes against humanity every day. FREE GHOSN!

Why not next month? Why April of next year? And is it the job of prosecutors to decide trial date or the judge handling the case? What a shambolic justice system.

Love how they use old, well dressed and healthy looking photos. How about a more recent one showing the true look of him these days. Reality.

I normal democratic countries judges set the the trail date, not prosecutors.

Apparently, Japan is not required to provide speedy trials to criminal defendants. It's probably to fine the police enough time to force confessions.
What a joke of a "justice" system. Too bad it won't change because Japanese people are intellectually lazy.
