Seems to me like a "Oh we have to make it look like we are doing something" moments here!
Surveying is one thing...ACTION is what is called for!

There is a common motif of inability and unwillingness to take action legally in Japan when it comes to cases of sexual abuse be it against children or adults. It's like they believe only YOU are responsible for protecting yourself from sexual abuse.

With all the sexualization of young girls by the mainstream media and pop culture is it any wonder that pedos think they can get away with such disgusting behaviour?

I totally agree! However, the sexualisation of young girls is nothing new in Japan. It is the violence that is new. Have a look on YouTube at some of the pop idol videos from the 60’s and 70’s. The are even more sexually exploitive than the modern stuff.
The callousness of the violence against children has become much worse in the last 15-20 years. My guess would be due to the financial pressures of The flailing economy. People just take it out on their kids.

Talk about overdue.

"In the survey, the ministry is asking all 220 child consultation centers across Japan to report cases in which they initially did not know but later discovered that the abused children had also been exposed to sexual abuse."
How about cases that they DID know about but said they didn't, until they were caught lying? I sure hope this is anonymous, because we know they're not going to report cases they previously have not.

This is a must action.

I’ve lived and traveled all around the world, but have never witnessed a country like Japan that preys so heavily on the weak, innocent, and vulnerable. Girls here in Japan are visualized only as sex objects by men who feel no guilt or disregard for abusing them as such.
i hope the future for Japan battling this social issue can prevail but I am not hopeful
