Condolences to her family and loved one's.
Sadly nothing changes in the US. If "guns" don't kill people, and it's always "people kill people", let's try something new, like take the guns out of the equation and see what happens?
I mean hell, just about everything else has been tried, and nothing works, only thing let it removing the guns.
Never going to happen, but it's nice to dream.

For the record:
Double mass shootings over weekend set grim U.S. record
https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2023/12/04/mass-shootings-record-year/
They were the 37th and 38th shootings this year in which four or more victims were killed, the highest number of mass killings in any year since at least 2006. Last year’s 36 was the previous record.

The US is a mess. Glad I left it for Japan where I don’t have to about this.

Poor lady, and her relatives.
So sad, but it sounds as though she touched many lives in a positive way.

Oh, ok, nothing to worry about; the US is comfortably in it's normal range of yearly mass shootings. Was worried for a minute that things were out of control.

Yubaru: Mate, take the guns out of society has work wonders in my country Australia. But the USA, it on the card the majority of society would revolt. Miss Naoko will be miss greatly. When I first work over seas in Japan everyday I awoke excited and keen and I assume Naoko did also. I sure did pick the correct society. It was a choice of Japan or the USA but the cost plus the long fight put me of the USA, Not the society but today and I am dead set, you can offer me any amount of cash and No thanks.

John-San - I have no idea what you are talking about, but it's nice living in Japan. That much is true.

"This is not normal and we can't let it become normal." He urged Congress to enact tougher gun controls.
He’s absolutely right. Though tragically any voices of common sense will once more be drowned out by the noise of idiotic lobbyists, backhand payments and “mah rights” fools.

Two Asians killed at this U.S. university. Could this be an Asian Hate crime? Has to be asked I think.
Fighto!
Rest in Peace.
The USA is such an incredibly dangerous place to visit or live. For local or foreigner. Gun owners do not discriminate.
Avoid visiting the US at all costs.
Hawk
Nonsense. I've been there a bunch and loved every minute of it. They've got the gun thing horribly wrong, though.
nandakandamanda
Agree with Hawk above, my experience too.
EvilBuddha
Nevada does not allow campus carry and this is the result. 3 lives lost in vain.
owzer
Because people who are gonna shoot people always follow the no campus carry rule. (rolls eyes)

You keep posting this.
The US has its problems ( gun violence being one of them ), but it’s a great country overall.
As you know, no country is perfect ( including Australia ), but Australia is still a great country overall.
Give it a rest.

America is a guns country. It seems to be cursed by guns. I wonder how many people are killed by guns every year. Thousands? After all they couldn't stop shootings, maybe forever.

U.S. President Joe Biden on Friday mourned the victims of the shooting at an event in Las Vegas and said, "This is not normal and we can't let it become normal." He urged Congress to enact tougher gun controls.
Biden's tired words of warning always sound like lifeless boilerplate that no-one pays any heed to, as Palestinians have learned from bitter experience.

RIP professor. I'm sorry this is how your life in the US came to an end.
TaiwanIsNotChina
This but unironically. Safer than probably 70-80% of places on the planet.
TaiwanIsNotChina
Utter nonsense unless you can only visit East Asia and Western Europe in your time on this Earth.
eug145
So sad. Rest in peace.

The whole truth...
Avoid that country is a smart move..

45000 US gun violence per year tells me you are wrong..
Wrong as always, LOL!!..

Anyone who believes "people kill not guns"... is ignorant! Why 'ignorant' you ask? Because when you live in a society with guns all around and you see and hear of people being killed with them all the time what is your first thought if you're crazy enough to want to kill someone. And remember, just the thought of killing someone is crazy, but it is happening all around you... so it is normal to want to kill someone... I mean if you're a bit crazy it might become normal. That is the thing... you're surrounded by it. So with all the guns and the violent American mindset... added to mad and crazy, guess what... Bang Bang! Sure a couple of European countries have lots of guns but they are taught to respect them and they properly store them. In the USA any idiot can get one quite easily. If you take away 99% of guns... a whole lot of senseless killings would stop.
John
USA is not a safe country to live. The risk to life similar to living in China or North Korea. Just the source of risk is different but the level of the risk is the same.
owzer
Depends on your socioeconomic and cultural situation. (Mostly cultural) Some people are more susceptible to committing crime and to becoming victims of crime.

U.S. President Joe Biden on Friday mourned the victims of the shooting at an event in Las Vegas and said, "This is not normal and we can't let it become normal.".......................Hey Joe, this IS normal for the USA. . It is estimated there are 434 million firearms in civilian possession, the population is about 340 million, so nearly 100 million more guns than people. Given the USA culture of violence which has been been propergated by Hollywood films and so many TV series, but then, other countries have been bombarded with the same material, so what is the difference? The availability to obtain these weapons in the USA is so easy, and in so many cases the parents exercise almost no control over them. So banning guns would be the only logical step forward, but it will never happen there.
TaiwanIsNotChina
Utter garbage. China and North Korea target you based on your nationality at a minimum. Cops in the US are too busy solving actual crimes for that.
TaiwanIsNotChina
Japan as at least as much violent media and I bet your UK does as well, but tell us more about the US should do.
