And if you have worked in Japanese schools as I have, you will know in many of them, there is an accepted culture of abuse and taking advantage of young girls. I was expected to date the girls I was teaching, and they were surprised I wasn't.

I have no idea what schools you worked in, but in all the elementary, JHS and SHS that I have worked in, NONE have been as you described. NONE had an accepted culture of taking advantage of young girls. NONE expected me to date the students...in fact the expected me to NOT date the students and they were not surprised that I didn't.......Perhaps you shouldn't work at the Gary Glitter International school for Nonces

A 15-year old getting cash at a hotel knows what she is doing, while I abhor crimes against children, this is not the case, she is just taking advantage of the law beingbon her side by default. I believe the man a fool for falling for the trap, though

Does it matter if an underage person, whose brain has not fully developed, "knows what they are doing"? She did not force this 60 year old adult man to come meet her. He, with his long-since fully-developed brain, made that decision for himself, knowing it was a crime. Knowing full well what he was doing. Sounds a bit more like someone is trying to victim-blame here...

60 years old. How many more has this pervert done it to? He is disgusting to the max.

Hard agree here. I have a much older family member (now deceased), who preyed on the young girls in our family. To everyone outside of the fact, he was the nicest, funniest guy. He was a medic in WWII who saved lives. He looked a lot like Frank Sinatra, which made him really "cool". Meanwhile, behind closed doors, he sexually tortured his only daughter. Told her no one would believe her if she said anything. Then went on to do the same to his granddaughter the one moment she was left alone with him.

These kinds of people don't change. And they can also seem like the nicest, greatest people in the world to those who aren't their victims. It makes me sad to think how many get away with this with no punishment whatsoever for the children whose lives they've ruined.

*"In Japan this kind of thing happens all the time.** There is a disfunction here that involves older people being attracted to much younger children. Goes both females here and males here in Japan. In other countries, youth is appreciated however we tend to stick to the opposite sex that are close to our own age. Sure, there are others who deem it fit to try to date a much younger person. But for the most part, we tend to stick to an age that matches our own. That way, we don't break any laws and we can have a conversation with our significant other."*

Really? Do we? Who is this "we" of which you speak?

Published by Statista Research Department, Oct 19, 2022 - In 2021 in the United States, 177,043 people were the victim of a sex offense. Of these victims, a total 32,079 children ages 10 and under and 51,434 children between the ages of 11 and 15 years old were victims of sex offenses.

According to the Canadian Center for Child Protection, 252 current and former employees working in elementary and high schools committed or were accused of committing sexual abuse against a minimum of 548 students between 2017 and 2021.

A recent UNICEF report estimated that child sexual abuse and exploitation were prevalent in all countries of the world, and that 1 in 8 children globally have been sexually abused or exploited at some point in their life. In Europe, about 1 in 5 children are estimated to be victims of some form of sexual violence, and between 70 and 85% of child victims know their abuser.

@Chabbawanga If Japan had a sex offender register, the country would have large keep out ares where these PEDS would not be able to enter and have to be labeld no male zone, like they have the female on trains!!! I get it, a Japanese man can have a teenage daughter and he can give a rats azz if another grown man is doing his daughter because his mindset is I'm going to do the same even if its someone else daughter.

This kid of thing happens in every country, but that doesn't make it any more acceptable. JAPAN NEEDS A SEX OFFENDERS REGISTER. You cant have these people, who kids are supposed to be able to trust, taking advantage of them like this. Probably get downvoted by the JT nonce brigade but ho-hum.

Oh, this isn't a crime against a child? It's a child who is committing a crime against an adult by being so sexy that he can't help wanting to pay this child for sex. So it's the child's fault. Gotcha.

Some 15 year olds look like 18. But guy knows about children’s ages. Probably she tried to blackmail him.

Definitely he wanted to have sex with a little girl.

After teaching in more than a dozen junior high schools over the twenty years I was in Japan this report does not even raise an eyebrow.

Just speaking to Japanese girl friends I learned a lot. From what I gather at least two of my friends had younger (Japanese) teachers at JHS who had sexual relations with students in 2nd grade (14yo). This was never brought to light at the time, but they said in retrospect it was pretty messed up. It should come as no surprise though. When I got my first college gig here years back, one of the first things I was told/warned about was that it was ok to have relations with my students so long as no-one finds out...

Just because it is so widely accepted, doesn't make it ok.

A vice principal in Hiroshima was found guilty by the court of sexually harassing a female ALT. Now we have a principal who solicited sex from a minor. Several months ago, another principal was arrested for filming girls at a convenience store. And hundreds of others on record. There are many conclusions you can make from these facts.

The esteemed principal. Now living in hell.

I FULLY agree with you! Japan does in fact need a sex offenders list like since 7 years ago! But whenever I say that one is needed (which makes complete sense and can save many young children and teenagers) I always get downvoted! These people prey on the young and innocence of these kids knowing the punishment isn't too severe which would allow others to follow suit!

She's going to need a lot of help. I hope she gets it but I wonder...

He's a callous lowlife. These kinds of people don't change, just regret getting caught.

Some of y’all really will defend anyone yikes

SNS/Japanese dating apps are rampant with this crap. They have almost no moderation despite getting investigated and sued yearly because of it. As for the principle… enjoy early retirement but you definitely deserve a few years in the slammer

I am not a fortune teller but I think it is quite safe to predict that his life is going to change a lot in the near future.... He is going to be using the prefix ex much more. As in ex head teacher, ex husband, ex .....

knowing she was underage. He denies the allegations, they said.

so he KNEW she was an underaged girl, implying that he met her and was talking with her.

but he denies what? Meeting her? Talking with her? Soliciting sex from her?

With the number of these articles I can only imagine that there are no schools with any teachers or principals left in japan.

Hmm, such a shame I wanna hear part two about the Education Board's action?

Nonces will do anything to get close to victims; study medicine, become priests, train to be teachers etc. many enter relationships with mothers just to get close to their children.

I bet this isn’t the first time he has acted this way, police and social services need to be investigating at his school and previous schools. I bet he gets a slap on the wrist, maybe a pay cut. Nothing to stop him working with kids in the future though. No sex offenders reguster.
