A jilted nurse in Osaka has been arrested after stabbing her ex-lover – the hospital’s administrative head – with a scalpel after he talked about breaking up.
The incident occurred on May 31. Osaka emergency services got a 119 call from a hospital saying that an employee had been stabbed.
According to local media, the 59-year-old administrative head was stabbed in the stomach with a scalpel by a 48-year-old assistant nurse. The man told investigators he’d suggested breaking off their romance, which had lasted for some years, before he was stabbed.
He was taken to another hospital for treatment.
During questioning, the suspect said, “He’s been cold toward me recently, and I’ve been feeling ignored.” She was arrested on charges of attempted murder.
Internet commenters seemed amused by the ordeal.
-- “Of course he doesn’t want to be hospitalized in his own hospital.”
-- “What in the world are people in their 50s and 60s doing these days??”
-- “I wonder why the media hasn’t given their names?” (Editor’s note: The name of the nurse has since been released.)

As one of the internet commenters asked...I wonder why they took him to a different hospital to be treated.

Strange, in those romantic doctor novel's it never happens like that.

Rhetorical question.

Office romances never last... Here's a lesson to learn: never break off a relationship when sharp objects are near... even if you're standing in a hospital!

All I can think about after reading this is the Joker dressed as an orderly in The Dark Night. Date your subordinate and no one cares, talk about breaking up, and everyone loses their minds!

She made it up to him by offering to do the stitches for free.

No romance lasts forever. The trouble is, the heart promises so much, but can only deliver temporary excitement. Our own lives are the same. We all want to live forever, but we're only here for a brief moment.

THey use the word hospital here differently than we do, at least in America. Small clinics, even one-dr. clinics, are referred to as "going to the byouin/ (hospital) "
So, I would imagine that it was a specialist clinic, and for the amount of blood he was dripping, or for the organs at risk, or for any number of possible examinations/ necessary equipment, going to a different specialist or a gnrl hospital was the choice to make.
That said, wow, so does that me she really really likes him? Just can't let him go...

The scalpel was germ free? I hope so........

I love how the word "jilted" has lived on in translated articles from Japanese to English. You very rarely see it in anything written in the USA anymore.

I believe his last words to her were "We should cuts things off for now".

It was all a silly misunderstanding! He told her that they should "sever ties", so she tried to sever his.
