Trains in Japan are completely off guard. It is very difficult to check all passengers without causing delays of trains. They cannot do the same thing as airlines. Equipping cameras is better than nothing and helps arrest gropers though.
Tommy Jones
It also helps exonerate those falsely accused of groping.

Well, I hope they get some good high tech cams as the cams they show on tv all the time are terrible.

Good idea! They should place camera's on all trains to be honest.

It only took them two and a half years.

The Saikyo line cameras are a joke, only the first car has them installed so you're "free" if you go to any other car.

I think the cameras should be installed where the train conductors are. Make sure they aren't sleeping.

I correct my previous comment that Japanese trains are completely off guard. They have train polices in ordinary attire and they are patrolling cars. Increase of them will enhance safety on top of equipping cameras.

All the molesters must be furious about this news.

I don't see how security cameras will prevent this kind of thing. However, it should make the gropers and other train loons think twice before carrying out their obscene acts. There are a lot of angry people using the subways in Tokyo during the rush hours. These camares might also help weed these idiots out too.
These train police would be more effective if they were in uniform. However, during the rush hours it is impossible for them to move through the trains, which makes the cameras more effective.

Yes, there was a disturbing spate of the disgruntled burning themselves to death in public. The politically-motivated ones were ignored by the corporate media. Not quite the image Japan wants broadcast in the run up to the Olympics.

Sounds great in theory, but with the trains being packed to 200% capacity every morning; I hope the monitoring staff are good at finding Wally.

A decade too late, as usual, but, well, well played.
