Kanagawa police officer arrested for filming up school girl's skirt

Police have arrested a 49-year-old police officer after he was caught in the act of filming up a school girl's skirt at a train station in Yamato, Kanagawa Prefecture.

According to police, the suspect, Kenji Tanaka, is an inspector stationed at Fujisawa. Fuji TV quoted police as saying the incident occurred at around 7 p.m. on Wednesday at JR Yamato Station. The girl was walking up the stairs and Tanaka followed closely behind her, using his smartphone to film up her skirt.

Another policeman at the station noticed what Tanaka was doing and detained him.

Police said Tanaka had gone off duty and that he had been drinking with colleagues before the incident and was on his way home.

Drink. Schoolgirl. Skirt. Camera. Satsu. all the ingredients for a great Japanese story.

I don't get this crazy lust for high school girls. And what is the big obsession with underwear? Why are dudes into this? Sometimes I am amazed at what my fellow dude's are into. SMH!!!!

Doesn't this guy have a daughter? How can a dude be interested in a girl that is younger or near the same age as his daughter? It just seems wrong. Kind of like the dude that killed that Vietnamese girl. He had a daughter the same age as her. Why would any dude be interested in getting freaky with a girl his own daughter's age?? I just don't get it.

My wife's friend is a female police officer. Her now ex husband is a J-Cop as well. They divorced because he was cheating on her with two other female J-Cops and also would make sexually suggestive comments about the little girls at their childs school.

I don't have any faith in these police here.

Ok this aint the first nor the last time we have heard this story but what are you guys and girls opinion as to why Japan has such issues (put politely).

j/k so kawaii and pure

no wonder why most of people avoid the J-cop at all cost and do not report crimes, in the left hand, the perv, in the right hand the forced confession...pick up your choice.

'facepalm' and slowly shaking my head

Exactly. Who can you call? Copbusters!!

Osaka 2 Kanagawa 1

Come on Kanagawa, you've got two days left to even the score!

In the US he would not have been arrested. If there were 3 videos from 3 different angles of him doing it, he would not have been charged. THIS is why the Japanese have faith in their institutions and Americans do not.

The judiciary must make examples to these perverts. If proven guilty the punishment must be punitive enough to deter.

J-cop/Crime section, please!

the uniform gets some people excited

toshiko: "@smith? Pervert cops are not joking matter."

In previous posts some posters, perhaps Dan as well, pointed out how like the Yaks police are, and so it was a joke made in regards, perhaps, to the fact that the police was muscling in on the other cop's turf. Obviously over your head.

No, it is not a laughing matter. But when you read about it three times a week and nothing ever gets done about it, there's not much else you can do BUT use sarcasm and wit to point out how utterly hopeless Japan's system is.

Well, I'm glad to see the 'long arm of the law' getting some exercise. These kinds of pathetic creeps are the worst of all! The fact he is a cop just makes even more worse, if that is possible. This is an extremely common practice in Japan. There is a real sickness in Japanese men. They really need to make the punishments severe to stop these wankers doing it.

And, yes! It does happen all over the world. There was a case in Sydney 2 years or so ago of a bus driver who had mounted hidden cameras in the floor of his bus to capture up-skirt video. When he was arrested he had over 2,500 images and over an hour of edited up-skirt video of school girls. He received three years in the pen. Now, here's the crazy part. His name is Takuya Koaze. He is Japanese! Yuk, yuk!

Have them wear uniform style shorts and nix the skirts.

toshiko: I think you missed Dan's joke.

In any case, it is now April 13th, and we've had more than 5 stories with assaults, mostly sexual, by police so far this fiscal year. J-cop/Crime section, please!

Common with Jpn teachers too. So behind the veneer of decorum, manners and an holier than thou attitude lurks a sub culture of hypocrisy and perversion.

so what

-9 ( +1 / -10 )

@Don Lewis, are you writing sympathy for him because he was caught in his territory?

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

The other policeman arrested him... for filming in his territory.

I'd been drinking -sorry!

OK, 10% deduction on wages and no more panty shots.

OK boss.

As you were.

Has that ever actually happened, or are you just repeating what others on JT have repeated on every article like this that ever appears?
