Another keystone. At least it didn't have anything to do with panties.

well, considering what cops are USUALLY arrested for, this is quite a relief.

KaptainKichigai at 09:36 AM JST - 15th November well, considering what cops are USUALLY arrested for, this is quite a relief.

I don't share your sentiment. Drunk driving can get people killed. Taking photos of someone's panties causes a little embarrassment and a few trips to the counselor to get over the invasion of privacy. People don't "get over" being killed.

Make him wash all the cop cars in his prefecture.

Probably just celebrating the end of APEC.

Make him repair the telephone pole by hand.

And it's not even Bonenkai season yet!!

Actually he was under cover...pretending to be a drunk. But in all honesty...1pm...this could have been a lot worse. He can thank his lucky stars he didn't collect a passerby on the way to hitting the pole.

Doesn't sound like he was very popular among his fellow J-Cops since they didn't cover for him (throw him in back of patrol car and take him home before the reporters get there).

@frungy, -had that been the situation, i would not have made my comment. As this circumstance was a victimless crime( telephone pole my apologies), My relief is valid at finally seeing a non sex crime committed by a police officer.

btw , speeding kills more people than drunk driving, and had this been an officer busted for speeding article, i am sure relief would be felt all around.

At least he didn't hit anyone else.

It's really quite sad though that the police of this nation in many cases do not hold themselves up to the same laws they expect society to keep. What's more, you only ever hear of this when the guys wreck their car and get busted -- I'm willing to bet it happens much, much more frequently.

Greapper1 - drunk at 1pm...

Yeah, of course! All the public know the cops only do RBT in the evenings after 10pm and in the same place and time of year, so of course, this cop knew it too. He just got caught by cleaning up a pole. No doubt, he has been doing it for years. It will be interesting to see how he is punished. A couple of months pay cut?

Incorrect. He was arrested after driving into a telegraph pole at 1pm. What a pathetic dolt. He should be drummed out of the force forthwith. Bringing the uniform into disrepute like that.

Cut him some slack -- he made a mistake, which makes him human. He shouldn't lose his job, and possibly decades of accrued seniority, over one lapse in judgment. To err is human; to forgive is divine. (Alexander Pope)

Just express remorse, and you're free to go.

'the sergeant’s car collided with a telephone pole'--This sounded funny to me. Like the car was driving itself and the telephone pole was moving too!

@dolphingirl

"Like the car was driving itself" well, the driver certainly wasn't in control :-D

@3RENSHO

Sarcasm, I hope.

You can be arrested for just sitting in the driving seat drunk, you don't have to be driving. And IN CASE ANY OF YOU HAVEN'T HEARD, it is also a punishable crime 1) to RIDE in a car with a drunken driver. YES, car passengers are responsible for their driver! 2) to sell drinks to someone you are aware will drive home afterward. A bar-owner was caught for this recently.

Take care!

This is one idiot loser! He should not only be arrested but also fired! And I guess it would not hurt to make sure he does not collect a nice juicy retirement check for the rest of his miserable, drunken life.

Drunk Driving, wow talk about a Bad example. Yeah he should be fired. any cop that drinks & Drives. or does any crime

Well. In other countries, these sort of misconduct don't even get reported on an individual basis. Try googling "police misconduct <insert your country>) and you might just hit an article titled "106 B.C. police officers guilty of misconduct in past 2 years"
