The media sure is milking this for all it's worth.

35 people died in one of the worst mass killings in history and you talk about milking it? Thats a bit harsh. Everyone still wants to know WHY he did it.

It's up to 35 now?  It just keeps getting worse.

Why arent the building codes being criticized? In a 3 story building half the people inside die from fire.

In case you missed it, the suspect used an accelerant to make the fire certain to kill. Not much you can do, code wise, when someone does that to a building. Same thing happened with the World Trade Centers with all that jet fuel feeding the fires that caused those enormous buildings to collapse.

Everyone still wants to know WHY he did it.

He crazy. That's why he did it.

No fire extinguishing equipment or enough training to use them or have him. Exits unable to open easily from within, The Why? Because the reason provided was his thinking that the animation company stole his novel. But when someone goes in and verbally stands in the middle of a hot fire yelling Die, Die..that person is no longer a person but gone out of their mind. Either way it will be swift punishment by hanging. Very sad indeed for all the victims deceased and those remaining. It is sad for the anime business and importantly Japan overall.

You're kidding, right? Refresh my memory... what floor were the people trapped on at the WTC, vs the Kyo-anime studio? Remember, since you forget, some people jumped to their deaths on 9/11 to avoid burning to death. These people did not have a chance because a) there were no proper escapes, and b) they might have lived if they HAD jumped from the third floor. What a sick comparison!

Now instead of the JP cops wasting millions of yen wondering why CRAZY people do CRAZY things,

And seeing how this kind of arson tragedy happens about every couple years here in japan, and it appears NOTHING was learned since the last time 44 people died in Shinjuku.

It would be a damn good time to make a LAW requiring all companies,

we'll say, with more than 10 people, to have FIRE evacuation plans with MORE than ONE EXIT...

You're NOT going to prevent every CRAZY kid from committing acts like this, but just maybe the next,

NO ONE HAS DIE because they were trapped in a 3 story building...!
