Kyoto police investigating cream puff attack on Bentley

By SoraNews24

At about 10:30 p.m. in Kyoto City, a 30-year-old man who was working late left his office only to find his prized Bentley vandalized. All across the rear windshield was the delectably gooey components of a cream puff, also known as “choux cream” (シュークリーム) in Japan.

“It smelled terribly sweet,” he told media, “There was a cream puff wrapper in the trash can by the vending machine in front of the office, so I understood right away.”

He checked the security footage of the building and caught the two young perpetrators in the act. Although one person was hidden from view, his shadow was easily visible in the footage while the other man could be seen holding and hurling the pastry violently at the 15-million-yen car.

▼ A news report showing the cream-puff attack

Gross as it already is, this act went far beyond sugar and milk. After cleaning off the rear windshield, the owner found a small chip in the glass about the size of a baby’s fingernail. “I think there was something hard like a stone in it,” he said, “I was pretty shocked.”

Readers of the news were also shocked and disgusted at such a wanton disrespect for good food.

“What a waste of a cream puff…”

“What kind of person would have a cream puff in their hand and not eat it?”

“This is just senseless…”

“That is one person who will not be delighted by the taste of a cream puff.”

“This is offensive to cream puff lovers.”

“What drives someone to do something like that?”

Then there’s also the question of why someone would put a filthy stone in something as sweet and pure as a cream puff. If you’re going to throw a stone, then why not just throw a stone? Also, in the camera footage it looked as if the men were recording themselves, possibly to make a “wacky” video of their perverted destruction of food for social media.

We also can’t rule out that there may have been some foreign body already in the cream puff when it was purchased from an undisclosed nearby convenience store.

Absolute waste of police time and resources

To be fair, is there anything for them to do in Kyoto? It's a nice place but it's like a ghost town.

Lamilly

What is it with society that no one is allowed to own anything expensive and what they consider beautiful without someone trying to destroy it or them.

"Destroy" with a creampuff?

No on believes this.

The owner of the car is a narcissist.

Trifling indeed, DanielsanToms 2:35p to create a second id just for a second pun? Own it! Well done. Like the story, it was ‘full-filling’, wasn’t it?

I'm ok with this mild distraction from the daily horrors we face.

It's not like he was chucking a molotov cocktail, right?

Absolute waste of police time and resources

If you look at where the mark in the glass was and where the chou cream made contact on the rear window, it would seem it is impossible for the mark/chip to be from the pastry...

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Obviously this person was DRUNK just by looking at his body movements, probably didn't like his cream after few drinks.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Thoroughly enjoyed all the puns above :)

The real cream puff is the owner of the car!

Bentley, nice car but in pimp white? Come on.

Video seemed to show the puff thrower as a tad unsteady on his pins, possibility of a few lemonades prior to the escapade?

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Red paint on fur coats OK, but cream puff on a ¥15miilion car? Japanese really need to grow balls if they want to make a point.

At least nobody was hurt.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

These large, classic cars just look so out of place in Japan. Nouveaux riche, gauche, tasteless.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Would that cream puff attack have caused any attention if the victim was a lowly Corolla? Seems to me this just a way for this guy to brag about his overpriced piece of metal.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Now cream puffs can be classified as weapons of mess distraction.

Clap, clap!!!

There’s probably much more to this story, for example it might be a strange gray zone business or he has an unusual private life and acquaintances, you know. At the age of 30 I didn’t even know that Bentleys exist and I still today couldn’t afford one, neither as a model car nor maybe even only a new pair of real screen wipers for a Bentley. lol

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Yeah. Someone put a rock inside the cream puff instead of just throwing a rock. Sure. Sounds totally plausible.

Much more plausible than some rich a-hole trying to avoid paying for a glass repair himself. Or maybe not.

The other day there was some white stuff on my car, with granules of mulberry seeds. Am guessing I was attacked by a raven.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

This is a very.................. 'Japanese' piece of news, with a sting in the tail.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Bentley owner must have annoyed someone..

What a waste of good shoux cream!

2 ( +3 / -1 )

“What drives someone to do something like that?”

Apparently a Bentley!

4 ( +5 / -1 )

The owner of that Bentley should be honoured! The prices of those cream puffs sometimes seems more expensive than a Bentley! Consider yourself lucky to get a free cream puff!

3 ( +4 / -1 )

His car probably got chou-bombed because of the way he parked. He's also obviously not smart enough to understand the symbolism involved in the use of a cream-puff.

This is the entire answer right here. That road is far too thin to be able to park a car on; Mr. Bentley has blocked that entire side and even made it dangerous for a car in the oncoming direction. Perhaps our puff-thrower's car is trapped inside and so he expressed his anger with what is ultimately something harmless.

Not very surprised that the media immediately leaped to see this one-percenter as the victim.

Just watched the linked video. These guys (drunk?) seem to have put a rock into a cream puff and smashed it down onto the back window.

I would be wanting them to pay for replacement of that rear window, if I was the owner, even if it does cost them in the region of 500,000 yen.

@Mocheake

I was surprised the announcer could keep a straight face while reading. This is a choux-in for non-story of the year.

It's a puff piece.

Fantastic waste of police resources.....

Such force...the dude must have been a yakyu player..

Quick, fire up the Bat Signal!

2 ( +3 / -1 )

This case is really beginning(?) to be ‘blown out of proportion’. Is all this no more speculative than when the unnamed writer suggests potential ‘negligence’ by the cream puff manufacturers and/or ‘product tampering’ by another unknown culprit?

*- “We also can’t rule out that there may have been some foreign body already in the cream puff when it was purchased from an undisclosed nearby convenience store.” -*

What? “Undisclosed nearby convenience store”? - Once again, it looks like more research is required in the reading than was conducted in the writing. The accompanying video at the 2:51 mark clearly animates two suspects walking from a ‘specific’ store location to the scene of the crime.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

With that picture, I am now feeling to eat choux cream

1 ( +2 / -1 )

You'll find these losers in every country on earth: Dudes that are so mad about their miserable lives they try to get 'revenge' on people who've figured life out.

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

Our apologies (in part) @ToastedHeretic 9:16am. Your inciting comments were directed at the visible ‘thrower’. It was the writer who assumed gender of the second ‘person’ not visible to the camera, by prematurely assigning the pronoun of “his” to “shadow” before the suspects could be identified.

*- “He checked the security footage and caught the 2 young perpetrators in the act. Although one person was hidden from view, his shadow was easily visible while the other man could be seen holding and hurling the pastry violently at the 15-million-yen car.” -*

Therefore, ”they” , the author(s) are responsible any transectional-political divisiveness that may occur in the further speculations about this Crime story.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Look, guys and gals, we've speculated about the quintessential Japan crime. Well, here it is. Bentley attached by cream puff. It beats the guy who was throwing a squid against an apartment building.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

You erroneously assumed ‘gender’ here @ToastedHeretic 9:16am:

- “bravo young man...” -

Please don’t incite further, transectionally-political ‘divisiveness’ on an already, inconclusive event when there is many more potential criminal acts and possible conspiracies to be conjectured here.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Cream puffs? Comrades, the Revolution is coming to Japan!

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Too much serious crime in Japan like this....!!

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Are you indicating, @diobrando 8:17am, a potential for the owner to submit a “fraudulent insurance claim” for pre-existing damage? Plus, the two ‘culprits’ were just outside of camera view and a cream puff alone would not chip the glass. Some collusion and a larger conspiracy puts this into the realm of ‘felony offenses’, far beyond childish vandalism.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

1500万 is a lot of dough. It ‘raises’ a lot of questions of motive for the crime.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Owner of the car claiming a slightly hit on the glass done by a rock "inside the cream puff"??? Are u kidding me? he wants to use those two guys to pay what natural car can get everyday. What a waste for this cream puff!

17 ( +18 / -1 )

Comments here are no more speculative and potentially, inflammatory than the concluding yet, additional ‘editorial-slight’ aimed at convenience stores:

- “We also can’t rule out that there may have been some foreign body already in the cream puff when it was purchased from an undisclosed nearby convenience store.” -

4 ( +6 / -2 )

"Leave the gun; take the cream puff."

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Mr KiplingToday  06:50 am JST

well, with a name like yours, I can understand that..... anyway, this sort of vandalism takes the cake!

2 ( +3 / -1 )

After cleaning off the rear windshield, the owner found a small chip in the glass about the size of a baby’s fingernail. “I think there was something hard like a stone in it,” he said, “I was pretty shocked.”

There are families going to food banks because they were laid off from service jobs by their bosses receiving government subsidies.

But hear the whining of a poor Bentley owner and the police leap into action again to counter this threat to peace and justice.

17 ( +21 / -4 )

A stupid prank against a ‘show-off’ car owner blocking the only available pedestrian egress in the area. This is ust other ‘puff-piece’ news(?) story in “Crime” today. Also, the headline could be construed as a ‘dog whistleattracting more hateful vandalism.

3 ( +10 / -7 )

Wonder if the owner of the car treated the employees at the choux cream place like crap and they took their revenge. That or people are lashing out at the perceived rich during these times.

18 ( +19 / -1 )

The boys need to be arrested ASAP and charged with misuse...misuse of a cream puff!

18 ( +20 / -2 )

This is an exceedingly sad story. I don't like to see cakes being wasted like this.

20 ( +24 / -4 )

OMG. Just lick it off the window and move on.
