Local gov’t employee arrested for vandalizing police car in Ehime Prefecture

Police in Shikokuchuo, Ehime Prefecture, have arrested a 59-year-old local government employee on suspicion of property destruction after he vandalized a police car in a parking lot.

According to police, Eiji Fujii was arrested after he scratched the vehicle’s back end for 40 centimeters with a sharp-edged tool at around 9:50 a.m. on Sunday, Sankei Shimbun reported. It was parked in a lot adjacent to a housing complex at the time, which is near the suspect’s home.  

Police said there have been over 10 similar reports of vandalism filed by residents of the same housing complex. A police officer on patrol spotted Fujii after he vandalized the police car.

According to Shikokuchuo City, Fujii is employed at a facility for the disabled run the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
