Police in Sapporo on Saturday arrested a 30-year-old male host club employee on suspicion of attempting to kill a 36-year-old co-worker.
According to police, the incident occurred at around 12:30 a.m. Saturday at the club in the Susukino district, Sankei Shimbun reported. Police said Yuki Tanaka slashed his colleague in the left abdomen with a knife after a dispute.
The victim was taken to hospital where doctors said his wound was not life-threatening.
Police said Tanaka, who had been drinking all night, has denied the charge. The club was still open at the time of the incident and police are questioning other staff and customers about what happened.

Just a knife carrying punk!
Throw away the key!

I bet the “host” scene is actually a really nasty business behind the scenes. Everyone trying to be the “ace” in a business where the only real qualification that counts is being handsomely androgynous until you’re not anymore.
If the televised portrayals of it (see as an example “Loan shark Ushijima”j are even half accurate, it is a real dog-eat-dog world.

I do not understand why such places are allowed to do business!

I am not sure what you are imagining. Are you mistaking host clubs with drag queen shows? It is a completely different thing.

Youtuber, Host, Uber Eats deliverer, ...... You have lots of other ordinary jobs.
Something really wrong with Japan. I know no other countries where host clubs have such status.
Are there any?
Japan might need to start conscripting these guys for military training for minimum 2years just like South Korea.

Some people here seem to have no idea. Host clubs are full of men. The clients are women who pay to spend time with the young men.
they are not drag queens. Maybe such clubs exist but they are not referred to as host clubs.

Absolutely. Some commentators here seem to confurse host clubs with "new half" clubs, which also exist, but have a completely different clientele. Stroll through Kabukicho, and you find something for every taste, no matter how strange.

In other words....."I was drunk and I don't remember!"

At 12:30 AM on Friday night, it could well be that both of them were so drunk that they didn't even understand reality.
To clear up this mini-conflict burgeoning up in the comments. Hosts are men that cater for women - a gay bar will often have less "dressed up" guys. The whole concept of Korean K-pop boys is derived from a mixture of manga and Japanese host boys.
