Man's 18-year sentence upheld for 2017 Japan highway road rage deaths

If you’ve ever encountered one of these freaks and I have then you know this sentence is too light. Feel so sorry for the children.

I experienced road rage while driving into Sapporo years ago. It was a Yakuza guy and he did not like that I was doing just over the speed limit (you are expedited to go at least 20–30 kmph over the speed limit in Japan).

He nearly cut us off than stopped in the middle of the highway in front of us. He got out and marched towards us yelling and my wife was going, 'he's Yakuza! he's Yakuza!; and I yelled back to him in Japanese, 'What's your problem!?? He noticed I was a non-Japanese challenging him, so he got back in his car and drove off.

18 years is too light for the psychopath. Destroyed an entire family in 1 selfish moment.

the punishment should fit the crime, and in this case at least 30 years.

The article failed to mentioned he threatened the judge upon getting his appeal rejected today. "Wait until I get out"

Most japanese in the comments were asking for the death penalty or life in prison.

I was just so relieved when I found out I'm not the only one who noticed a pattern in a certain physical feature and behaviour, many japanese think exactly the same.

Just look at the guy's picture and see if you notice something in common with most jerks you had to put up with in this place.

90% of the bosozoku have exactly the same feature.

The incident began when the road-rager parked his car in front of the toilets at the service area, for the convenience of himself and his girlfriend. The (now deceased) victim happened along, and cautioned him not to park in the No Parking zone... Now he has declared that he is "going to wait 18 years for the judge", but is the girlfriend going to wait?

I wish this animal had of received a longer term on appeal. His violent, aggressive actions orphaned two young girls. Now he is threatening the judge.

I hope the animal expires soon in prison. What a great day that would be for all.

For having had the temerity to return to court appealing against his sentencing, the judge should have doubled it - can't imagine anyone would be complaining, this sentence was far too light for the seriousness of the crime.

Should've had another 18 years slapped on for threatening the judge. This guy's a full-on thug.

The rope was invented for such psychos. He should have never be allowed back among us. 18 is far too light.

I’ve met intentional dangerous drivers and am glad that the law has been reformed (at last) to provide a deterrent.

If its true and he threatened a judge saying "Wait till I get out" if I was the judge I would have tacked on more sentence time the maximum that could have been given for such an offense for making a verbal threat towards the court/judge.

This is the transcript of the events, the victim shouted to the killer "jama da, boke!", it's a verbal manifestation of deep disgust upon witnessing such a selfish act (of stopping your car causing nuisance to pedestrians and start smoking outside as if its nothing) but as you said, this is Japan, I'd just ignore and go on with my family, not in fear of someone coming to kill me, but of the legal consequences after the japanese man provokes a fight and the minute you touch him, they use the police against you as they always seem to do.

Doesn't matter if they hit you first in Japan the Japanese police will always side with the Japanese person. Best just avoid fighting in Japan as even if you win you lose
