A 22-year-old man killed himself after stabbing his 21-year-old girlfriend at their apartment in Yamato, Kanagawa Prefecture, police said Tuesday.

According to police, a woman called 110 at around 5:55 a.m. on Monday, asking for help. She said her boyfriend had stabbed her with a knife and that he had stabbed himself, too.

Police rushed to the scene and found an unconscious man with several stab wounds to his arms and back, as well as a woman with stomach wounds. A bloodied kitchen knife was on the floor.

The man, identified as Ryogo Kumagai, was taken to hospital where he died at around 6:55 a.m., police said. The woman, Maya Takahashi, was in a stable condition on Tuesday, police said.

Police said Kumagai and Takahashi were living together at the apartment. Takahashi said they were experiencing troubles in their relationship. Police said they will wait until she recovers before questioning her further.

Man with several stab wounds to his arms and BACK ? And she is in stable condition.

Definitely Police is not going to believe her version of story. She must be suspect in this crime.

We don't have all the facts yet, the girl had only been stabbed once this could have been a case of the girl stabbing the boyfriend multiple times, then herself once in an attempt to pass the blame on him as a murder suicide.

Agreed, except that we don't know the lady was only stabbed once.

Stab wounds of the arms sound defensive. Nobody stabs themselves in the back, let alone multiple times.

Their are several ways to stab yourself in the back, and I'll share one with you in case you want to try it out.

You open a door and wedge the handle of a knife between the door and the door jab near the door hinges then you stand with your back in against the knife, reach out pull on the door handle trying to close the door this will tighten the knife in place then just lean back and stab yourself. But I don't think this is the case in this story, She did it.

Question:

how do you stab yourself in the back?

Something about this story doesn't add up. The boy has several stab wounds on the arm and in the back according to the story. It is highly unlikely that someone who is committing suicide will stab himself several times, more unlikely stabbing himself in the back multiple times. It is more than likely that the multiple stab wounds on the boy were not self inflicted. The girl according to the report has just one stab wound in the stomach which is highly likely that it was self inflicted. The story is turned on its head now. It is likely that the girl killed the boy and stab herself in order to put everything on the boy. I trust the J police will do a proper investigation and unearth the truth.

The whole thing sounds suspicious to me. Let the police find the truth.

Yes we do, it's in the article. "She said her boyfriend had stabbed her with a knife and that he had stabbed himself, too." Also, the article doesn't say that she had only been stabbed once.

I think we can accept that sequence of events unless the police feel the need to investigate further.

Who stabbed who?

@Andrew Crisp - that was my first thought too but the article doesn't say she was stabbed only once.

Men need to become more manly again and toughen up.

Please don't speak for me. I've gotten this far in my life never having stabbed a girlfriend (or anyone for that matter), and I feel fairly confident I'll make it to the end without doing so either.

Well I don’t see how he could have done it BEFORE stabbing her.

Andrew Crisp:

I was thinking the same thing after reading the story. At 5:55am she called the police so supposedly all this happened prior to the phone call.  I doubt if any two people are gonna wake up early morning and get into such a heated argument that would lead to a murder / suicide. I think she stabbed him in his sleep.

Lack of communication, seems many young people these days no longer know how to react using words and common sense.

That accusation has been levelled at the youth for generations. I think it's safe to say that there will always be "crimes of passion" (hate that term) regardless of age or the age we live in.

Men need to become more manly again and toughen up.

Are you referring to all men, or just the delicate and oversensitive 'Generation Z' (those born mid-1990s to mid-2000s)?

Men need to become more manly again and toughen up.

If the girl doesn't like you or want to split then let her go.

Don't try to commit murder suicide. That's weak.

At the age of 22 there are so many other women out there for you.
